Because if so, you could just post a link to that project, couldn't you?  hmm

I hope that my site would be acceptable:

It just has some scratch games on it.

Re: Links to Member-created Websites

This is getting a bit confusing and clogged up. Could there be a part of the site where you can submit your website and then you get an answer in your comments with an "Admins Note"? I see a lot of projects with people advertising their sites. Would those count? I don't have a site, I just have questions  tongue

That's a really good question!  My feelings are that problems don't seem to show up until the website is advertised in the forums and gets exposed to a larger audience - but that might be just because I don't hear about problems on sites that are advertised only on  projects.  What do you think we should do?

Interesting idea!  Right now, though, as we work through these issues, please use the Contact Us form to apply with your sites.  Perhaps we'll come up with a more structured application process later.

Some other web sites that I've visited (especially ones run by the government  smile  ) have a feature that when you click on an off-site link you get a pop-up saying "this is an off-site link and we're not responsible for its content" (only in lawyerese); you might consider doing that (either instead of or in addition to banning forum links).

~Vista4563 +1'd this

I see a lot of sites that do this. Since Scratch is an educational site, I'm thinking it applies here as well.

Um, why would sites have to be in existance for at least 6 months?  And why are you emphasizing words by making them red?  Isn't it supposed to be italicized?

If you are going to stop Weebly websites, why not “.webs” websites.

They’re not as populous as Weebly sites, but they still exist.

That's true, a lot of people go on the forums more. I don't know, I was asking because it seems like you could link to that project from the forums and I wasn't sure if that would be allowed, since it would come to the same thing.

You know how we had the voting for moderator page? We could have a page like that but the only way to get to it could be through this forum, that way the site does not get messy.

Re: Links to Member-created Websites

What if someone makes a website where others can send the creator something, but it gets approved by the creator before it gets on the website?

Just wondering, would websites that don't allow comments or chatting be allowed? Like swifty2 and SpriteMaster's sites?

Sure, as long as the material is appropriate for our entire membership  smile

Exactly!  That kind of safety feature would be ideal.  Right now we are thinking that sites that don't allow comments or that have a comment preview feature, like you describe, probably don't need to "prove" themselves with a long wait period.  That only would apply to forums or other hosted communities.  Stay tuned for more updates to the policy soon.

Ehm, could you maybe make clear the exemptions? A moderator censored my (approved) site since s/he probably didn't know about the exemption.

Maybe a list?  smile

Would it be okay to post a topic on a site you made, with no link to the site anywhere on the topic, and give a link to whoever is interested via comments?

+1

It's just as easy as weebly to make fora on webs.

You could ban links, but I suppose you can't censor it... Maybe sensor webs.com?

Cause then the following sentence would be censored: I have a website.

It doesn't appear to be blocked, but is my like button website ok? I only ever link to the like button portion of it, and the rest of it has nothing of any interest/inappropriateness.

Re: Links to Member-created Websites

Alright, I'll just ask directly. I made a website recently. I wanted to post a forum topic about it without a link anywhere on it (meh, not today, when it's better developed), and if anybody was interested I'd give them a link via comments. Would that be okay?

But it blocks it because of the ".weebly." filter.
