I saw someone mention in a project they would like the comment block back. I think that would be a really useful feature to have again. It can be really confusing looking at peoples projects when you have no idea where to start and the comment block could help this problem.

I'm almost 100% sure that the Scratch Team is 100% sure going to put it back in in the next version

What is the comment block all about? I've got 1.2 beta but i don't understand what the comment block is. It doesn't seem to do anything.

Having a comment block would be great!

Comment blocks would allow people reading the code to understand it. The comments would say what each block of script is doing.

i mentioned it but you said this last year so it isn't me! http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/axleman1011/209245 (but this is my bring it back project)

Somewhere the Scratch Team mentioned they wanted to bring back the comment block, but in a different approach. Not as an actual block like it was in 1.2 beta, though, because they said it confused some users.

And it'd be good for a comment block for the forums. So you don't have to put in words what you mean. Well you'd still have to do that but it'd be cooler
You mean like "other" blocks EG: comment block, obsulete block?

I am also almost 100% sure. I bet they will put it in. I just hope you can change the width or height so you are not restricted by the border size of the current one.

I definitely want the Comment Block. Even for keeping track of your own code it would be handy, let alone looking at someone else's code. I am working on a somewhat complicated project and I leave it to do an experiment and then come back. If I could put a comment next to my code it would help me keep track of things and make it easier for me to pick up where I left off.
When is the next version of Scratch expected to be released?

Andresmh told me a new comment block will be put into Scratch. One that is easier to use then the old one. Im not sure how it will be implemented but Im sure it will be good.

It tells people how you made the project. It can be confusing to download a project and have to figure it out for yourself, so the comment block lets the user explain some of it without affecting the program.

I can't make promises for the Scratch Team...but it was mentioned at the Conference several times so I think it's pretty safe to say it will be there. However, it most likely will not be the same as the old comment block. You will recall that there were issues with the old block and the Scratch Team is trying to address those issues.
