Re: How to reduce your project's file size?

Try using the "Compress images and sounds" option in the Edit menu:

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-XkfFs83FuZ8/TlOycKXVqbI/AAAAAAAAAIQ/LQD7OACL3w0/s288/compress.jpg

Doing this will decrease the quality of the pictures and sounds by erasing any unneeded data.  smile

If you're uploading it there is also the Compress Sounds and Images check box in the bottom left-hand corner.

Re: How to reduce your project's file size?

When I try to upload with the compressor it says
"Failed: Serialization: Buffer Too Small For Compressed Data"

Try to un-check the Compress Sounds and Images check box in the bottom left-hand corner when uploading.

I do, but then it says that it cant upload due to the 10MB Limit.

tips
1. use a file compressor (E.X put the file in a .zip folder)
2. Compress it in scratch
3. If it is a movie put it in parts (part 1 part 2 and so on)
4. If it is a game or something take one part and share it then take another part and share it (put in the project notes: "download (link to project) and this project and then open one of then then hit import project and inport (link to project) ) HINT: flashsoft cmd 2.0 is going to be doing this.
5. use different broadcasts EXAMPLE:
when the atomic chesse is picked up I want the hero to die
1.
[blocks]
<when I receive[sacred grounds -grave]
<wait until><touching[atomic cheese
[/blocks]
[add {HERO DEAD} to {action list}]
and then
[blocks]
<when green flag clicked>
delete all of action list
[/blocks]
and:
[blocks]
<when I receive[sacred grounds -grave]
<wait until> [action list contains: HERO DEAD]
<set{ death }to(1)
<change{ lifes }by( -1
<set{HP  }to(10
[/blocks]

"Failed: Serialization: Buffer Too Small For Compressed Data"

It sounds like it's too small, right click on the scratch project go to properties and look at size to tell if it's too big, if it's too big get rid of some sound, that's what takes up the most space. If it's too small, add some sound.

I did the edit- Compress Images tip and now it's 9.5 MB.

Re: How to reduce your project's file size?

Don't forget that you can set the quality of the compressed images. The lower the quality, the smaller they are. ^^ By default it's set to 70, but you can set it to 50 or 20.

The same goes for music - "Low" will give you a small file. while "High" will result in less quality loss, but the file will be bigger.

http://i52.tinypic.com/5es7t0.png I know what you're thinking! "Neptune! Get rid of those filthy advertisements and give us back the Zarathustra siggy, you horrible person!" Well, don't worry about it, the Zara siggy will be back soon, new and improved! ^^ Meanwhile, just do what the sig tells you to. >.>
