I dunno. I was watching an episode of King of Queens where Doug gets interested in church and starts praying.
Well, anyways, do you pray? Also, when do you pray: in the morning, before dinner, before bed, etc?
My answer: Yes, I do. I usually pray before meals and before bed. I may also pray whenever I feel like it or when I feel something isn't right. I even pray in the shower sometimes.
Please remember not to start any religious arguments and do not offend anyone's beliefs. All I want is a simple answer. I don't want this to become flamebait.

I love the idea of religion, and the love and compassion it puts in people
But I am not religious myself and therefore do not pray

Yes, a lot of times every day. For food, for a good sleep, a safe journey, etc.

Thee problem is, while some people are sitting there praying,
others are taking action and donating to charity, or better yet creating charities.
but if praying is part of your religion and helps comfort you, im okay wit dat.

hate to burst your little bubble there pal, but the church and almost all religious movements are all for charity, and have tons of charities and drives and collections for the poor and etc.
Not saying atheists don't do charity, but christians and others do too, so saying they just sit and pray and do nothing would be wrong.

I don't pray on a normal basis.
I do pray when I've reached such a severe case of insomnia that I'm crying and forcing myself to sleep, I pray to God that he'll help me fall asleep because that's my only option. And it's funny, cause it works. Other than that, no praying, really. It's just something I don't really do.
I think I might believe in God a little bit. I'm thinking about becoming a universalist.

Before every meal and sleep, and at random times.

Brettman's right. Christians don't just sit and pray. Many people give donations to their church and the church donates the money to charity to help those in need. Us Christians have devised many ways to help the poor. So, saying that they do nothing useful, is, well, kinda offensive.
Prayer, in a Christian POV, is one of the basics of life and helps us understand what God tries to tell us. Prayer is just one out of thousands (maybe even millions) of daily activities we Christians do to help others.
For example, on this one religious show I watch sometimes, they've started multiple charities for poor people, poor countries, poor kids, etc. They've also helped disaster areas, like Haiti and Japan, and help bring wells to people in need of clean water. How do they do this? They do it through some of their own money, viewer's donations, and other stuff. You see, we all make contributions. Even the littlest penny is a big help.

That's good. I also like praying when I'm sad. It gives me comfort. Another upside about prayer (in a Christian POV), is God is the only one who understands you and you can talk to him whenever something or someone is bothering you or when you're in need of enlightenment.
