Example guidlines for a pong game:

There has to be a scoring system that restarts on every game,
There has to be a start button,
The pad can't get higher or lower.

I mean things that need to be in (or not in) the project.
Example for platformer:

There has to be more than one level,
There has to be things to collect to add or take away points, health, energy, etc,
The character has to have a jumping costume and a running costume.

I like those ideas except I don't think it needs to have a jumping costume. Some characters might not have legs.
