Taking scammers on a ride...

Yeah. I am getting this email from a lady who wants money, and so I decided to have some fun  wink . First, I talked about how I would help her and used tinyurl to make a link to a rick roll video unknown. Then I pasted that as my bank info, and she just replied back saying she needed some information. I entered fake information by using the power of Google and Yahoo search, including a fake credit card number by searching "fake credit card numbers" on Yahoo. Anyway, I can't wait to see the reply back!

If you want to keep the internet, vote no for SOPA and PIP. If you can't, tell your parents, your friends' parents! Sign petitions, do whatever you can! Say NOPA to SOPA!

Re: Taking scammers on a ride...

If a rickroll didn't elicit a response, it's probably a bot.  hmm

And I sure hope those credit card numbers really are fake. XD

Re: Taking scammers on a ride...

Obviously, this "lady" will try to do a mass scam affect with multiple scammers. When they all use this fake bank info, the world will trolololol in their wake. Soon, trolls will troll scammers with this information. It shall become a meme...

At least, that COULD happen.  tongue

P-P-P-Powerbook? Whats that?

P-P-P-Powerbook is a well-known online prank carried out and documented by Ebay user Jeff, who was approached by an Ebay scammer offering to buy his Mac Powerbook for a shipping fee with a fraudulent escrow account. Upon discovering the bidder’s true intent, Jeff took on a vigilant mission by playing along with the scheme and shipping him a handmade cheap replica of the laptop. Jeff’s hilarious exploits eventually made its round across the blogosophere and popular discussion forums and the story was heralded by many as an epic win. For great justice.

Re: Taking scammers on a ride...

I just got

Kind Attention:

I am Gregory Patrick, Former funds Manager with fidelity investment international Zurich one of the world largest fund management company with over 1.2 trillion pounds capital investment funds.

Nevertheless, as fidelity former Fund Manager, I handle all our investors direct capital funds during my tenure. A total of $18million was made with our company under your last name but a different first name and this deposit was terminated in September 18th 2004 by the investor and since then I have not set my eyes on him. I was informed he died in a plane crash with his wife. I have tried all possible best to locate the family members but all my effort was unproductive. Not any other person has the information’s about this investment fund except me. 2 weeks ago, I had a meeting with my Executives at Zurich branch and was instructed as the fund manager of the deceased investor to provide his next of kin or foreign business partner otherwise they will convert the $28m into company’s treasury after December 30th 2011. This is why I decided to run a search on that last name to locate someone who bears the same last name so as to find out if he/she is related to the deceased and if not t

Meanwhile, I have worked out the strategies and technicalities on how the FUND can be claimed without any hitch. Our sharing ration will be 55:40%, while 5% will be for expenses we may incur during the process of the transaction. Should you be interested, let me know so I can forward the details to you.

You can contact me on my private email: gregorypatrick2012@yahoo.com.cn
and send me the following information for documentation purpose:

1. Full names
2. Private phone number

3. Current residential address

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind Regards,

Gregory Patrick

Yeah, I'm mostly inactive.  I check in once in a while though.  If you want to contact me, I have a contact form at my website, http://escratch.org

Re: Taking scammers on a ride...

One I saw (but not emailed or sent to me) was really funny! One scammer-bot was trying to get a credit card number from another person with chat, telling them to click on a link. The bot said you needed a credit card number to "verify your age". The person's replies were really funny: at the start, "Oh lord, what do you want now", "I wonder what Alan Turing would think of this conversation", "It is interesting how the credit card has become the Turing test of modern life", and, at the very end, "I appear to have bored you into silence." The title of the article was called "How to Bore a Chatbot.".

bye 1.4, we all loved you. but we all outgrew the site. 2.0 is a welcome change.

Re: Taking scammers on a ride...

Lol.

On a similar topic a while ago the phone rang and it was someone saying our computer had a virus and we needed to download stuff to fix it blah blah blah (but it's a virus itself). They said it was to do with something on the internet going wrong, so my dad said 'which computer?' (he knew it was a scam, and was going to make fun of them) They replied 'the one you used last'.
Then my dad said, 'I don't use the internet on the one I used last'.
'Oh', they replied. '
Then it must be the one running windows XP' (we have none with windows xp)
My dad replied 'all of them are running XP.'
'Ah, it must be the one you bought first' they said.
My dad then said, 'I bought my first computer in 1983.'
'It must be that one' they said.
'But I threw it away in 1994.'
'Then it's the one running XP you have now and bought first'
'None of them run XP' he said.
