Well, here goes. I was in typing class at school and during the first pretest I did well enough that my teacher decided I didn't need to practice typing so the next day she showed myself and the other kids scratch. She had to go help someone else so I was left alone with the language for a couple of minutes. I went and got a picture of a fox imported it to scratch and made it move when the right arrow was pressed. I was pretty happy because this was the first time I'd ever programmed. The next time typing met we worked more on scratch. The next thing I did was look at the sound graph sample project and then make it without looking at the source code. Soon enough I was making games where you had to doge balls and run around attacking demons. I no time I made an account and started sharing projects. The second project I shared was pretty good (IMHO) it was a two player battle against a mud golem, a wind elemental, and medusa. I didn't really get popular for a long time when I shared Gods Quest.

I originally learned about scratch at esq (engineering science quest) which is a summer camp at the university of waterloo. We did a simple project with the pen, but I decided to explore. In september, my copy of scratch from the cd that I got at esq stopped working, so I googled "scratch" to try to find where to get it, and found the website. I started exploring what I could do with it, and that's still what I'm doing now!

It all started out with Penguin Chat 3... I was so anxious to see the gameplay I searched it on Google. Then one thing caught my eye-Penguin Chat 3 on Scratch. I checked it out, and I didn't like it ( You switch rooms and waddle around... pointlessly. ) Then I saw all SORTS of Club Penguin copies on Scratch that were all very neat. So I thought... why don't I make one? So I did... My Club Penguin. I thought it was neat, so now I think I'll make more than Club Penguin related projects...

Almost everyone learned about scratch through school.

I was making animations on powerpoint but when I found out I couldn't make even a simple game I wanted something that could and I happened to remember scratch, from a long time ago when I had seen it at the library and so I finally remembered what it was called and downloaded it.

Well, I used to LOVE to read Popular Science, especially the DIY (do-It-Yourself). Well, I saw in an old issue that there was designing your own stuff. Naturally, I asummed you would be using the computer (duh, it's Pop Sci). I saw that they had something about programming in the ocrner. They said Scratch is very simple, so I tried it, it seemed to hard,I saw they recommended something simpler (it was you have your picture that they make into a game) so I went back to Scratch, and, well, here I am
Bluestribute, I found it the exact same way
.I had been looking for new game programmers for a couple days and my next issue came and there it was! Thats basically my whole story. Now I'm just creating projects and trying to help people.
Yup happened to me too
i love Popular Science

My dad found it ages ago and thought I might like it. He showed me this ping pong game made on Scratch. After playing with it I remarked about how it doesn't keep score and stuff. When he told me I could make it do that... wow. Memorable moment or what?

Well, my old school just started using it. My sister (whose still there) showed me to a page of links and stuff. I found Scratch basically completely by fault, as she went on that page to show me something else anyway!!!

I came across Scratch when searching the Internet to find something fun and interesting to teach primary school children. Downloading Scratch was the best thing that I did, and it was successfully used within the school for the children to create their own games. Excellent piece of software

I was actually making a pivot animation, and looked up "Shoop da Whoop" Images. (
) and somebody's project came up that when you clicked the people, they shooped da whoop. Then I somehow came across it again, tried it out, and BAM! I'm part of the scratch community.
