Re: Team Earth

I'll add more stars this weekend. I tried to simplify the gravity equation, but I think Scratch's Atan function is broken or something.

Re: Team Earth

Yes, some of the functions are glitchy.  I can add animations to the stars.

OK, animate the stars. I didn't get around to adding stars over the weekend. Could someone else try?

I don't think the number of planets matters. Just make a bunch of stars and give each one one to three planets. As for the number of stars, I have no idea. Go for two to four for now, but if you think you can do more, go ahead (Making stars is a bit harder than it sounds). We'll probably want more stars later.

How to make stars- If you add stars, you have to copy and edit part of the gravity scripts in the spaceship. Gravity blocks have enormous equations in them, and there are two for each star- one for scroll-x and one for scroll-y. When you copy a script you must change all 4 (give or take one) sprite drop-down menus to the new star. The drop-down menus are scattered throughout the equations. Do this for both the x and y blocks. If gravity gets messed up, you probably missed something in one of the equations.

Apart from gravity, all you need to do to add stars is copy an existing star sprite, rename it, edit its costume, and change the numbers in the scrolling scripts. Do the same to add planets (But planets don't have gravity, so they're a LOT easier!!!).

DIY stars. Oh, and be sure to change the scroll X and Y of the star and any planets.

I would, but I'm really not good at such programming stuff. Can you try it this weekend, or should we ask blob?

Re: Team Earth

Obviously I didn't try over the weekend. I'll try to remember to add more later, but I've kind of been waiting for something to happen here. Maybe we should implement the shop, or enemies.

And I think it's kind of sad that to get to the one collab forum with almost 60 pages I have to run a search. What happened to the other... 11(?) members?

Re: Team Earth

Okay guys, Team Earth is about to become extinct. I think we can all agree that this isnt the collab it used to be. Kamesh doesn't really use scratch anymore, and he checks on his collab once every blue moon. I myself dont even feel as interested in this collab, but I will do the best I can to help, as Kamesh left me in charge.

I know how you feel. There's only like four people in this collab. I suggest we start fresh (but keep the Elite game, and dropbox). New name, new thread, new everything.

You're right. This collab is on the way to die out. I think we (ads, thrystor and me) should think of a new name. After that, we should look for more members. I think 3 scratchers are too little for such a huge project. But the new members should all be experienced enough to help with stuff like the planet adding or the scrolling background problem.

Re: Team Earth

I suggest we rename this collab TeamElite. I think I can come up with a new logo by the end of the week. For now, I think we should remove the TeamEarth intro from our Elite project. With TeamElite (name pending), I suggest we only recruit the best scratchers who will be commited to this collab.  I think this is why TeamEarth fell apart: we havent heard from half of our members since last year (Collab Camp 2011)! Btw, I still think blob8108 can help us. He's a very experienced scratcher; I believer he would have no problem helping us now, we just need to contact him.

I suggest we post a project on the TeamEarth account tell how we're 'changing our image' by changing our name to TeamElite (name pending), and telling how spots are open if you wish to join*. I'm not sure if we should keep the TeamEarth scratch account since there's no way to rename a scratch account. But we can always change the icon I guess. I also think, before we abandon this thread, we should leave a note to Kamesh (just in case he does come on) thanking him for everything he did to put this collab together, and how this collab's in 'good hands.' We should also telling him that we are not 'abandoning' him, we are simply 'improving his collab.'

*Don't get me wrong, we can't accept ANYBODY. We need to have some type of 'evaluation system' set up. And I don't mean like the one Kamesh had. IMO, Kamesh didn't really do the greatest job selecting people to join TeamEarth to help with our Elite project. I mean, the proof is in the thread activity. How many users have posted on this page of our thread so far? 4! I think what we need to do is make our four actuve members (me, dasbloekendeschaf, thrystor, christian2000) 'judges' once we create TeamElite (again, name pending). We four will 'evaluate' an organized list of scratch users who want to be apart of Team Elite (AGAIN, name pending) based on their previous projects. We will then vote on who we think should join us. When voting, we need to keep in mind our current needs for our Elite game, and how dedicated they will truly be to this collbab.

Btw, I've already removed the TeamEarth intro, as we are pending a new name, thread, members, etc...

Re: Team Earth

Hey guys, I just finished the logo! I posted it to dropbox, tell me how you like it!

Now, we should create a forum for people who want to join TeamElite, or at least make a project on the Team_Earth account telling people what we're planning.

I also changed our account picture on TeamEarth to TeamElite. And now the password to the Team_Earth scratch account is no longer teamearth, it is the password we use for dropbox.

Here are some scratchers that I think could really help us (with programming):

Lucario621
stevetheipad
Indiego
FunnyGamesCreator
chanmanpartyman
FaceOs
fulldroid
Solarbuddy
AtomicBawm3
Tech_Geek_Games
richjones69

Okay, that's fine. I'm not trying to single them out or anything. I think everyone should have a fair chance to join. I was just listing them, becuase they are very skilled at programming. If any of the do want to be apart of TeamElite, i suggest they automatically be accepted.

Okay, I'll take a look at dropbox. And hopefully, we can get Indiego to join.

Just updated the TeamElite add. Tell me how you like it!

Now, once everyone approves of the ad, all we need to do is upload it.

Re: Team Earth

Ok.
Here's a short list of things I'd like to say, suggest and ask:

1. I like the idea of letting the experianced scratchers directly join the team.

2. I suggest a member limit (like 10 members or something like that), because having about 20 members (the scratchers from the list and maybe some others would be even more than that) would affect exactly the opposite of the problem we had in the last time: Confusion

3. I don't think the most famous scratchers (fulldroid and Lucario) would have the time to work with us

4. I think we should make a new account and a new forum. That would definitely help.

5. Who asks blob, if he wants to stay?

6. We should first ask blob, then ask the "popular" scratchers from our list and then start to make forums and projects for other scratchers (if we haven't reached the limit then)

Re: Team Earth

Fulldroid and lucario might not work out, yes. I wasn't a big fan of the idea of having fulldroid come here anyways, since he doesn't even take 5 minutes out of his day to thank the people that comment on his projects. We should ask blob if he's staying with us, and a new account at least might be a good idea. Only one thing I disagree with there is that I think we should ask the "popular" scratchers last. A lot of them would be too busy and I want to give the newer scratchers that show potential a shot at this.

I do still check this forum ocassionally, to see if there's anything interesting going on (: I might grab the Elite project sometime and tweak it a little.

So, I'm happy to help answer any questions on here, and I might do a little programming myself sometimes, too -- but I can't promise anything  smile

Re: Team Earth

Yay! We have an honorary member! (Blob8108)

Okay guys, I'm about to upload the TeamElite ad...

Btw, I agree with what das said. Not including Blob, we shouldn't exceed 10 members. If we ever do, we can put the users that want to join on what would kind of be like a 'waiting list'. So with Lucario and fulldroid out, that leaves 9 scratchers that should automatically be accepted if they want to join, and 6 spaces. However, I doubt ALL the 9 scratchers I listed will want to join us.

Someone may want to add more to the description though...
