Re: Zambya!

Hey ssss, this looks very exciting! It's great that you're going for a mod that fills niches but beware of cluttering it up with features! You want it to be an easy transition from Scratch, so if you have a text based editor make it an optional feature that does not get in the way of the usual block style. I would also suggest making sure that "want more blocks, we'll add them" doesn't end up cluttering the pallet, if you look at BYOB you will see how Brian and Jens worked out how to get maximum new functionality out of only three or so special new blocks! You have the opportunity to make a great mod here and I wish you the best of luck, I'm sure you'll do a good job  smile

I didn't say it was going to be, I said I think he should try to make it so to increase interest and use from the public.

Lol.  It might encorporate a lot of features to fill up niches, but it does anything from clutter it up.  Many of the features give you the choice to use them (TExt based programming is the advance mode)
It goes:
~  Basic
~  Average
~ Advanced (Text based)
I aim to keep it a clean modification, while encorporating the features  wink
I believe the Basic/Average/Advanced tabs should go at the bottom of the scripting area... Do you agree?

Re: Zambya!

I'll help, the main specialness of this mod is gonna be the textbased editor.  I assume you guys know if you click on the file menu, then do make new project summary, it creates a textbased version.  I think you will be able to code it like that.
This is an example of how that code might look

Code:

    when green flag clicked
        switch to costume "costume2"
        next costume
say "Hello!" for (costume #) secs
        say "Hello!"
        think "Hmm..." for 2 secs
        think "Hmm..."
        change "color" effect by 25
        set "color" effect to 0
        clear graphic effects
        change size by 10
        set size to (size)%
        show
        hide
        go to front
        go back 1 layers
    end

Funnily enough, transition from scratch to Zambya will be easy!  smile
I am trying to make it a nice, simple and clean mod.

The point is, it will be a very simple textbased editor, so it will be a good transition point from scratch to C++, Python, Ruby, Java, or any other.
