scripts

Hi, can you please, in future developments of scratch, make certain that the output of scratch is not in binary form but as a well ordered script so that I can demonstrate the link between the visual ide of scratch and the underlying code logic?   I would be very grateful as this is a tool that has great utility in teaching youngsters how to program.  Far better than turtle and logo that I learnt on in the 80s!

Perhaps you could create a filter to convert the binaries (.sb) files into script?

Also, a converter to an swf or avi file would be good.  Thanks.

Re: scripts

oh yh, not sure what scratch is written with (JAVA ?) but there is a good C++ library for dynamically generating SWFs from c++ called SSWF

http://sourceforge.net/projects/sswf/

One might be able to build a filter to convert output to a swf if the scratch mittens are up for it.

Re: scripts

Currently Scratch is written in Squeak. One online player is in Java, and the other is in Flash. Scratch 2.0 will be in Flash.
You might be able to export Scratch to SWF in 2.0.
