Welcome to the official Rocket thread! Here we discuss the development of Rocket and a lot of other useful things about Rocket! In development stages, we do protect the password and stuff, but in the full version it will be open-source.
Our site will be up and running soon, thanks!

Finally, the 0.3.2 patch has been made. Since it is only a patch only a couple of things were edited, being edited at the moment. Since it is only fair that development is shared with you, here is the release plans (In Australian Times):
0.3 series {All must be finished by 20 July}
0.4 series {End of the month, hopefully won't need as many as 0.3
0.5 series {End of Auguts, HUGE UPDATE}
0.6 series - 1.0 series {Not yet decided}
Anyway, ROCKET 0.3.2 DOWNLOAD
Yay for my own website

Added in a draggable reporter for 0.3.3 : That's right 0.3.3 is for blocks, blocks and blocks
(Mostly because 0.3.2 patched what needed to be fixed)

Hopefully, after this update we can get xIIv or Pecola1 to work on the password menu (So it doesn't show text, only axterix), the organisation of blocks. Like I can do that. However, I did redo the About Rocket bit. We are also going to convert over from the .sb file extension to .RKT. We are not going to make a Rocket website, in favour of starting Rocket Software, where Rocket is the main project

Searching through suggestions forums really creates a great inspiration for mods. I think that this, quoted directly from fullmoon, displays what Rocket needs to compete with the other mods:
fullmoon wrote:
Couldn't agree more -- the stage needs to be a much more prominent part of the UI. If I had it my way the entire UI would be the stage, with floating toolbars for scripts, sprites, etc. that could be moved, resized, and snapped to edges. But that's an awful lot of work, at least for 2.0!
But doing that in squeak would be awfully hard. I am thinking that maybe before we start to do major work, we convert to something better such as Flash like scratch did, or C++ . We could also possibly move to java. However, I'm thinking we'd have to do this later in the ALPHA series, as it seems that most of the devs have become inactive... Please ask to become a dev.

I'm really starting to wish I didn't care about others opinions, and just considerred my own. However, this kinda ruins the point of Rocket. So, as I am still looking i found this post from scimonster:

So maybeor
Maybe even both combined!
What do you think now?
He later on stated that the last block should have been a stack block.

That last one should have been a stack block instead of cap block. I'm too lazy to upload another pic.
Quite honestly, I'm not sure If i can do this for the Rocket team. This might be beyond my difficultys
. Still, I hope you like the information flow I'm letting you all have...

Heh. It's quite funny how we implemented This as soon as we started developing Rocket. Is there a hint there?
I'm going to work on Mesh Blocks soon, but who likes the 'connect' tab rather than the 'share' tab that scratch has? Because share = not mesh
connect = all mesh & project uploading.
I am also thinking of whether it's possible to have a windows where you can explore projects on scratch
Hooray for ideas. But please, please, please! Suggest anything you want for rocket
Eventually, Rocket Software will stop developing Rocket (Perhaps when it reaches 3.5). To start working on a text based language called RokkIT. It would be a simple transition from a Scratch like program (Rocket, preferably) to a text based language.
Heh. RocketSoftware FTW. Anyway, Rocket Software is aiming to get children from 6 years old learning programming. When they reach the age of 12 they will be ready to move on, then move on to the next programming language up. Currently, we are only working on the normal Rocket program. If you would like to volunteer to develop the text based language, please say so here

Never mind! Seems like my mind was on the hosting side of my site, rather than the rocket part
Fixed!

Yay
(Remember - it's just a small patch)
I'm thinking 0.3.3 will be changed to 1.4.0
. Major Block overhaul, hopefully a new skin to make Rocket stand out

Heh. I'm not going to be at my place out of NSW (after the Europe, we went to another state)
. So, durring the trip I'm going to be working on rocket (And sleeping... *Yawn*...) Anyway, so. I better download the scratch skin and deal with the new theme. Oh yeah, that's one of the things rocket should have
. Themepacks...
Onto themepacks:
- Should there be more than the custom pack on download (or would you rather have download speed more than variety of choice?
- Should we release an API to the public as soon as it is released, or to a few BETA testers?
- How do you suggest we best implement this?
On another note, my server is going nicely

If it was up to me, you wou7ld be able to select themepacks from an outside folder, and be able to download them from the web. And what do you mean by API??
Also, I might be able to help some if we switched to C++. Also, By the Textbased language, do you mean like an actual compileable language, or something like scratch, where it is a language inside a language??

1) The themepacks:
Well, that seems like a nice feature. The API, how you develop the themes
2) So, we should convert the Rocket scripting to C++ ? That doesn't sound too bad, actually

I'm adding you Steve.

It turns out Rocket 0.3.3 will be released
Not as a blocks update, but as a theming update
Yep! We added in a way to import your own themes (Not the easiest API yet, will work on that for 0.3.4). We will not release it just yet, as I am still working on some things
