Just so you know, the host is a ubuntu VM. Not a mac.
AND, client.fla is an OLE2 file, and I can't open it.

Wow this is truly genius! I wonder why i didnt think of this! (JK) i only know a tidbit of as3. I would LOVE to beta test. I have some great ideas for multiplayer games. You could also set up a website with Webs.com and post scratch games there! (if possible. you'd have to edit the scratch code a bit for that to work). Again, great idea!

@Dinoclor
You can't compile the fla on Ubuntu, Flash CS simply isn't available. OLE2 is the file format fla is based off of, like Microsoft Office documents. If you don't have flash there is a trial at Adobe's site. The host can be linux, the other computer which is player 2 must be mac.

If you read the first post throughly, you would now that it use normal scratch sites, it is released, and it's website already exists. Go to the website. Download the non-mysql version, as well as the drawing example. And, compile using the steps on the site. Then, use the posts between me and Dinoclor tio get it setup.

@67589jun
I have released an example project, which is like the online game "Draw my thing" (although a lot less feature filled, I did it in about a half an hour of coding, and about 10 minutes of testing. I would be so happy if you follow the following steps to get this multiplayer technology that I have invented the best, and better than Mesh, Snyff, MMO and Go, and whatever else there was. The steps are:
1. Read the first post throughly
2. Like the topic
3. Go to the website, read it, and download the non-mysql version along with the drawing example
4. Compile the non-mysql version (steps are located on the site, and there is plenty of help scattered throughout this topic)
5. Use the steps at the end of page 4 which show stuff about getting flash up and running. You will need to Flash CS3 or later (it was made using CS4) in order to create the client. If you are good with Sockets in a language like Java or Python, please use the actionscript located in the client.fla file (if you don't have it I can post it, but since its about a hundred lines, I'd probably put it on the website) to make a cross-platform client application, so you don't need to do everything on a Mac, or have Flash CS3 or later.
Lastly, you will need to have a Mac/Linux variant/Unix in order to run the server. If you are familiar with Winsocks or perhaps even Node.js, rewriting the server to run on Windows would be an enormous improvement for FireMMO's health.
If you get the drawing program up and running, please try to make you "little game for all of to go on". It's the biggest thing that would allow us to be better than the best. (and while you're at it post status replies, here, not only will it bump us, but if you do I can take care of all of your games advertising, (well, show and tell might not hurt, but I won't do that exact part)
Thanks again for your interest in FireMMO, and if you have questions just post,

Then how am I supposed to edit the .fla file?

Like I said, there is a trial at the Adobe website.

Can't you use wine?

Death_Wish is right, there is wine, but with some work we can implement cross-domain policies (google it). Then again, if you can get your hands on a Windows it might work better.

This sounds awesome! Too bad I only know Scratch.

Aaand judging from this, this will NOT be made using a hint of Scratch?

@XUDI
If you are very good at Scratch, you should be able to do this without extra knowledge of other languages
@ScratchDude101
What do you mean? This is for making MMO's in Scratch.
Offline
I'm going to try it, I hope it works.

MEH.
I don't want to set this all up.
1) I don't have a mac.
2) Isn't this supposed to have to do with scratch?

I am using Flash as a wrapper in between FireMMO and Scratch.

Welcome to a new revolutionized version of FireMMO! I have made several important new changes to FireMMO, most importantly the ability to compile the client without use of the paid program, Adobe Flash Professional, instead you can compile it with the free program, Adobe Flex SDK. Instructions have also been posted for many scenarios, and I truly hope that this will help the continued development of FireMMO.

Thanks, Dinoclor. I haven't completely tested the Flex version, but I will try it later today. If you need any assistance just ask me. Truly, I really hope I can get this to work on a computer other than my own. If we get Hamachi, (or a static IP address, for that matter) we could try to play the example game over the network.

Both the server hard disk and the backup hard disk crashed at the same time, and I didn't completely remake everything.
