I just saw that. Although, I'm having some trouble understanding. Could you maybe post a new version of how to connect, taking in consideration Magnies exe? I downloaded the zip, un-zipped it, opened scratch, enabled remote sensors, and opened the mirror.exe. It said it connected to scratch, but now I'm assuming that I need some kind of project to run. I can't find it though. Any help?

In the FireChat topic, there is a project that is linked. You can use that project.

Ah. Ok, thanks.

There have been some bug reports about that. I think it has something to do with the mirror. Is there any text that has been outputted by the mirror? If yes, could you post it here?

Nope. No text on it. I may just try it manually, that is if I can understand the instructions...

Apparently, it was actually a server-side bug. The short-explaination would be server data gets corrupted.
The long explanation has to do with how users are signed in. Since I haven't implemented proper logins, I cheated by making an array of logged in users. When a user logs in, it increases the index by one, which makes the dangerous assumption that when a user connects, it starts chatting/logs in before another client connects.
Hopefully this new way will work better then before.

Ah, interesting. Also, just so you know, I removed both debugging print statements in the mirror.exe.

No wonder I couldn't help anyone..

can I have it?

Yes. Click FireChat in Magnie's signature for more details. (FireMMO is the parent project of FireChat)

I am a gamer and I followed your steps up until you mention typing a code then opening the .swf file but i don't understand what was going on there. Can you help?

Those instructions, well they're a bit outdated. If you really want to know about that step, it was relying on a non-scratch, non-FireMMO, program (Flash Professional, $700-ish) If you want, I can rewrite those steps for now. Also, gamers would only be able to do much if they're are game up
But all the same.

Magnie, I'm making some real games (MWAHAHAH) with FireMMO. Since I'm copyrighting the servers, should I add "Anonymous (Magnie)" next to "MY FULL NAME (bobbybee)"? Also, do you think GPLing it would be appropriate?

Sure.

Well, I haven't had much experience with GPL, so I don't know.

Any particular license you'd recommend?

Since I'm a full supporter of Open Source, and like as little restrictions as possible with software, I would suggest Creative Commons or something. Though it's your choice, you created the software and get to choose your own restrictions.

I'll consider it, I guess.

CC don't recommend using a CC licence for software. Have a look here for some other recommendations...
You probably want something like the LGPL; which is, apparently, a copyleft licence, while allowing people to use your code commercially (which probably isn't really a concern for you.)
