Hello scratch, this is like one of my first posts... I've just gotten back into a Scratch/Blender combo (scratch for more educational things, blender for my imaginative things.) What do yall think of a blender rougelike? A rougelike is a game where theres a dungeon (usually randomly generated) and you get to explore it. Theyre very fun (think Diablo ) I wanted to sort of mix that idea with the traditional RPG, by making a fixed dungeon you can explore, but you pick up quests and *. Few questions.
1. Shall i do it with an overhead camera like a trad. Rougelike, or shall i do it with a third person view (camera behind the player.) Or with a first person view (new fun twist on the genre.)
2. Story... Should i have an in depth story or should i spend my time on gameplay?
3. Re-playability... Shall i make the game short but with replay value (side dungeons with side quest lines and *.) Or shall i make a very long story, with loads of dungeons?
4. Above ground interaction. Should i make a quest or something where you go up onto the surface or even a whole part of the game centered around that?
5. Pets. In most rougelikes you get a dog or something... Should I throw that in? Maybe a more advanced version?
6. For the lulz idea... Make on the graphics in the trad. Rougelike style (with all symbols and *, like an orc is an @) I think that would probably give it some character .
7. Oil or creme?
Thanks yall.
Scratch/Blender on.

New idea, Dark Crusade. Youre a crusade during the middle ages, and you come across a graveyard, creepy things happen, etc. Thriller RPG ftw... Working on some lighting right now, doing a very dark purple as the sky, and the sun (moon) is a pale white light (but more of a light tan, very creepy looking.) Also gonna throw in some lamps and *, maybe a cave filled with blue torches
