Okay the cutscenes will involve the guy writing, it can be animated or still. Then someone knocks him out that you can't see. He wakes up to find that the boat is almost to the atoll, but everyone else on the boat is missing. He crashes into shore and the game starts.

Hey, I can edit the graphics of the scrolling engine to make it look like Atoll. Do you want me to? (I probably wouldn't make good cutscenes)

I'm an intermediate-to-experienced programmer on Scratch.
Woo, even better minecraft clone! | I feel that programming is better than animation, because you can interact with games but not animations.
