How do you prevent projects from viruses?

My son uses Scratch and it seems to me a nice way to teach programming. One of his chat "friend" offered a project but I am suspicous for any game related downloads.
I have not found any information how to prevent projects from viruses? Thx

Re: How do you prevent projects from viruses?

If all this friend is offering is an SB file to be opened directly from Scratch, there's no chance of anyone getting a virus. Scratch doesn't support external interaction (not even date and time!), so creating a virus in Scratch would be a memorable achievement (although not a very good one).

Go ahead and let your son download all the SB files he wants -- from the security of the Scratch website, of course. External sites may contain who knows what viruses!
