Ahahaha!
I got an email from "andreshmh@scratch.mit.edu". It claimed that due to a technical error, it needed my password or else my account would be lost. I merely chortled and asked him to check the database for my password. I got a very angry reply stating I was banned, but I told the spoofer that apparently their banhammer was malfunctioning, because my account was still there.
I never got any more emails after I sent that. Ehehehehe. Hilarious.
When did all this happen? Maybe you could forward the email to help@scratch.mit.edu - they might want to take a look at it.
You were smart not to fall for that scam. Remember people, never, never, never give out your account information in an email! On Scratch or any other website. Real system administrators don't need to ask you for your password...they can just change it themselves. Only a scammer would ask you for it - no matter how "official" they look.

^^^^ Good advice Paddle!

Yup. We did an entire unit on this in IT class
I'm glad that this has all been cleared up though. It was a little crazy last night
Thanks a bunch of fluffy kittehs (aka Scratch Team)! You guys rock

Are you referring to the JustUsBoys thing? I was very worried! How did they get everyone's emails?

by searching on the site.

This is one way to start. So basically, if you post your email on the web, even once, the consequences will never be the same

I checked, and my email is no where on the site.

One other thing that hasn't realy been mentioned, but is kind of good to know:
We never send emails to Scratchers. We only use our email account to respond to messages from Scratchers (through the contact us form or just when they email us @scratch.mit.edu).
So, if you get an email out of the blue from help@scratch.mit.edu, it's probably not us! But a response from help@scratch.mit.edu, especially if it quotes your original message (as we always do), is probably more legit.

Luckily I never post my email anywhere, so I don't think I'll ever get one of these emails

Does anyone know how to stop people from filling my inbox with pornographic images????
And also, I checked the site, I never posted my email anywhere. I also deleted it on other sites too. Somehow, I think someone breached the scratch security, if they are disguising themselves as scratch.mit.edu.

block the email, make it so the email adress is marked as spam, get a new email...

If I change my email, I would have to move all of my contacts...

Okay, I have a question.
I am receiving these messages in my normal email account. I only posted my alternate online (my alternate's address has no personal information, for first and last name it just has "Lavender Town") but the normal one is the one for which I signed up for Scratch. I'm getting them in my alternate too, but seriously, why my usual one? I never posted my normal one - it has personal info in it.

Your iPod cannnot get infected simply because it's very possible it's a Windows virus.

Plus it's very hard for a Mac to get and spread a harmful virus.

Good. I only check my email on my iPod. But I still don't know how they got the email addresses.

I got some, but the only thing I use my e-mail for is registration.
Huh. Anyway, thanks a lot andres
All of the hype was kind of getting annoying.

Yup. I just got NASTY mail. Scratch sorta has to stop this. We are being targed through Scratch, so shouldn't it be their duty to get rid of this stuff?

You don't need to open them to delete them, I would hope.
It is safe yes. You probably shouldn't open them, for-
good enough reasons.

Nope, never.
Even so, I put the emails as spam, and anything in my spam folder is instantly deleted, so I won't have to see them again.
@ScratchThatGuys Ya, don't open them, some of then contain inappropriate images.

It looks like it has stopped...or has it?
As far as I know, someone on Scratch was doing it. O.o

Maybe next time I'll check with you if you really did send a reply, even if it looks legit. But I haven't used the contact us lately.
