Nice LOLCAT.
I myself didn't get one of the hacked emails, but I heard about it over twitter from a scratcher reporting it, so it's definitely not good. Hopefully nothing like this happens again

Yup. I defiantly heard about this XD. Andremesh and ThePCKid were talking about it on Twitter. I sorta budded in methinks XD

wow. that's scary
No they were not.
What happened that caused this post to be made? E-mail spoofing was happening on Scratch?
...and isn't LulzSec gone now?

E-mail spoofing was happening over email, on gmail, hotmail, etc. Not on Scratch.

I see. Was it about thr "scratch being hacked" thing that was happening lately? That's that only other thought I have.

Turns out I'm a victim. I checked my e-mail (on an iPad so I don't get infected), and I got several emails. I got one that said it was from help@scratch.mit.edu, but what it really contained was...imagine the rest.
Either G-mail failed to mark it as spam or it's the iPad.

What does "Scratch being hacked" mean? That statement is too vague.
By hacking people mean so many different things, for example:
1. Someone guess someone else's password
2. Someone defaced the website
3. Someone is spoofing emails of users.
4. Someone got shell access to the server.
5. Someone got into the source code of the Scratch desktop application.
etc
etc
So, saying "X was hacked" does not mean much.

Could you (or anyone who got the spoofed email) please post the source and headers of the email somewhere (set expiration time to 24hrs and remove your email address)
Here is how you get the headers of an email.

I mean the rumors of "Scratch being hacked". I only just came on, the last time I was on here I didn't see these rumors. :S
And oops, I deleted the emails before that post came. If I get more I will post those.
I'm still watching my inbox and spam...

Yup. I just got NASTY mail. Scratch sorta has to stop this. We are being targed through Scratch, so shouldn't it be their duty to get rid of this stuff?

Bad sites? same her >.>
I told lightning that the mail is much more harmful than the ST seems to want to believe.

The question remains, though - who did this, and why?
IT WAS STEVE!
STEVE DID THESE EMAIL SPOOFS!
Uh, I guess I got a little carried away. But seriously, who did this?
I'd accept it as a prank if it didn't include NAAASTY emails and it were done on April Fools Day.
The ST can't do much if they don't know who it is, and...
Ah well. We just have to put up with it.

It all makes since now. But I accidentally opened them on my iTouch, so I want to ask if any of you think it could get infected.
Your iPod cannnot get infected simply because it's very possible it's a Windows virus.

I hope I don't get any... I wonder who's doing it!

Ahahaha!
I got an email from "andreshmh@scratch.mit.edu". It claimed that due to a technical error, it needed my password or else my account would be lost. I merely chortled and asked him to check the database for my password. I got a very angry reply stating I was banned, but I told the spoofer that apparently their banhammer was malfunctioning, because my account was still there.
I never got any more emails after I sent that. Ehehehehe. Hilarious.

Honestly. Why would we be that gullible? Do they think we weren't educated? This is an educational site. Typical.

Somehow this is worrying me. I'll make an article on the wiki about this.
