Infection

My computer (using another at the moment) is infected by Trojans. Happened an hour after after I got the weird message from "Kaj". I got a message from my Antivir alerting me of a trojan. Then the comp promptly crashed and every time I turned it on it crashed again.

Re: Infection

Well, start by booting into "Safe mode with networking".

If you can identify the type of virus (your antivirus should tell you) it would help a lot.

I'm taking a break from Scratch until 2.0 comes out. Any messages sent between then and now probably won't be read - sorry.

Can't. It shows the Vaio logo then crashes. Other than that, everything works fine, and I would have done that by now.

Re: Infection

My computer showed the BIOS boot screen then crashed before being completly unable to start but I fixed it. Now a trojan should not cripple your computer like that unless it enbeded it's self in important files.

First things first recover your important files before continuing. Download Ubuntu and choose the try ubuntu function when it boots. (If it doesn't boot go into the BIOS and change the Boot Order)

Insert USB to copy files to. Don't worry about the trojan (Unless it is embeded in a file you want to copy).

Navigate to your files and copy them to usb.

=====
Now Try to repair windows. Insert the Windows disk and try to repair. If it works start up in safe mode and remove the trojan.

=====
If it doesn't even load the disk reset the BIOS. Remove the BIOS battery from inside the laptop. Most laptops have it visible when you first open it up. If it won't load the disk after this then your hardware may have been faulty

====
If you can't format with the windows disk insert Ubuntu and try to format with that (Buy attempting to install and backing out once the disk is formated)

=====

Follow my advice with caution. If you know nothing about computers than pay someone to do it for you.
