Re: Frozen Coco - A Scratch Band

Here's the banner! You guys can use either a dynamic one using random-image.net, or a plain one.

Code:

[url=http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=66703&p=1][img]http://u.r-i.ca/technoguyx/fcbanner.jpg[/img][/url]

http://u.r-i.ca/technoguyx/fcbanner.jpg

Code:

[url=http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=66703&p=1][img]http://i52.tinypic.com/30a55jk.png[/img][/url]

http://i52.tinypic.com/30a55jk.png

I'm putting up both because the "dynamic" one can only be displayed up to 1500 times a day.  hmm  That's a lot though  tongue  I'll try making a smaller button-like one now.

EDIT: Added buttons to the main post!

We could do it on both, because although YouTube's great, we're a Scratch Band after all.

Looking back, tehnoguyx, you wanted to make the choruses rockier. How about we make the last chorus have an electric guitar involved? We could brainstorm some lead guitar ideas here, but you'd probably have to be the one to record it as I don't have an electric. (unless you know of a good way to make an acoustic sound electric).

Or we could leave it the way it is, it's up to you.

How's the new snare, jslomba?

I'm not really sure about making them "rockier", though if we wanted it like that just some distorted power chords would be enough. Perhaps I could solo a little over the last chorus, but my electric is missing it's first string... But hey, just yesterday I ran my electroacoustic through a fuzz pedal haha, it feedbacks way too much though.  tongue  But recording an acoustic the old way and then distorting the signal won't work.  hmm

I'll have to mix the song with designer's vocals first though, then I can see if having an electric guitar anywhere would work  tongue

Eventually, I guess. But since recording just one song is taking a bit too long I can't be really sure.  hmm  Hopefully we manage to record at least an EP though  tongue

Uh, that one was actually entirely recorded by me and not by the band  tongue  Right now we're recording a cover of a song which you can see in the first post.

EDIT: Here's a roughly mixed WIP version of My Voice to You: http://soundcloud.com/technoguyx/my-voice-to-you-wip

I used MIDI drums while we wait for jslomba's track, and leebee's vocals are still missing.

Sounds cool! I like your mixing, it makes my mistakes less prominent  tongue

So you decided to use the original guitar track rather than the piano track?

Well, the newer guitar track you recorded seemed to have more mistakes so I figured I'd use the first one you recorded plus the piano track. But I'm not really sure if it sounds well since I panned the piano to the right and my right ear hears less ATM.  hmm

One thing I really need to fix somehow is the popping on the vocal track. Like in the end, the popping is waaaay too noticeable. I guess I'll just have to use lots of volume automation, and perhaps some smart EQing.  tongue

Makes sense since this thread is for us to organize, anyway... But I don't like the site as it looks now, perhaps if we put our logo somewhere (something like the banner but in the header, can that be done in Yola?). Also it doesn't make much sense to ask "Which of our songs do you like best?" now since we have none.  lol  Never liked free websites anyway.  hmm

I also think we all should be able to manage the website and all accounts, such as the Scratch and Youtube ones.

Yay. Now we just need leebee's vocals ._. I'm still mixing using the parts we have so far, assuming leebee's track will be similarly placed to designer45's in the mix.

EDIT: leebee won't be able to record this song... designer45, are you fine with recording the backup?

EDIT2: Oh lookie, I just came up with ideas for an original song. Thoughts?
