Re: Frozen Coco - A Scratch Band

Good point, I say you two upload some beats and I could see who is better. I'll take recording quality into consideration as well, I'm pretty sure that'll bother us at some point.

Should work similarly to Bluestribute's project - we all think of ideas for songs and then the drum beat, bass line, guitar riffs and the vocals are recorded, preferably in that order (most rhythmical to most melodical).

As in just editing samples in Audacity or mixing whole songs in Reaper/FL Studio?

Yes. Yes it would. And please drop this drum thing, you're taking up a lot of forum space people don't want to scroll through.  smile

I won't help, but I suggest that you consider doing "Hello Seattle" by owl city, except rock-ified.

Ooooh yeah I know you sing. You have lots of potential, you just need to take your voice out and not mumble too much  wink  3 singers would be more than enough imo, if you're interested that is.  smile

Veggie, you're a pretty decent drummer though you get kinda off-beat at some parts.  hmm  Waiting for jslomba's sample to decide.

Ehhh that's intentional and I can fix that if you dislike it.
Thanks though.

Re: Frozen Coco - A Scratch Band

I have a few song ideas. Assuming everyone can read music...

My Voice to You- A very lovely song by Dennis Yang, who actually gave me permission to use this song, has perfect backup too!  smile  Very complicated, but I'm sure we can do it. I call lead for this one.

All Time Low- Another very lovely song by Dennis Yang, who gave me permission to use this one too  tongue  Also rather complicated, but we can do this too.  big_smile  leebee can do lead on this.

A Chance- A hopefully easier to use song by Daniel Despins and Adam Griffith, who gave me permission to use this. leebee can do lead on this one too.

Nothing Without, Everything For Dennis Yang's latest song. I'll do lead for this.

I'm also writing a song that I call lead on. I'll be sure to find another lead for leebee to do so we're even.  big_smile

I will edit this post every time I find a new song.  smile
You can change it to suit your needs, but make sure it sounds similar to the website.  smile

If you want to hear just your part:
Move your mouse into the center of the sheet music. A bunch of gray boxes will appear on the left. Click the one next to your part, then press the Play button in the bottom left corner.  smile

Re: Frozen Coco - A Scratch Band

The drums seem more like marching band/orchestra drums. The bass drum would be really hard to play that fast.

Lol, I couldn't read sheet music to save my life - good thing that site lets you hear the song.  tongue  But I guess I could play out the chords in my guitar or whatever, maybe make a simple bassline since the original score doesn't seem to have one.

Veggie, the bass drum is not really that fast but if it's too complicated I guess you could play those quarter notes on the hi-hat, playing the bass drum only on the first and third beat as if it were a regular rock rhythm.  smile

I liked the song, perhaps we could try starting out with that. Maybe make it a little more rock in the choruses?

I thought it was gonna be a faster tempo, but then I heard it. The hi-hat rock rhythm would probably be more fitting in this case.

Re: Frozen Coco - A Scratch Band

I was thinking about doing auditions for the singers but I preferred the idea of having multiple singers, which switch between lead and backup whenever applicable.

But if we get too many singers I guess I'll have to hold auditions and pick the best two or three.  hmm

I'd rather have everyone upload their auditions as soon as possible... Including those who are already under Vocals if they're fine with it. I guess you could consider the songs on my SoundCloud as my auditions, check out the guitars and bass I recorded on Summer Holidays and Trip to the Ol' Country  smile  There's also a neat solo on A Day in the Life Of.
