Re: Frozen Coco - A Scratch Band

Hey, I think I'm finally done with "When I'm Besides You" (I'll stay with that title). Now it has a second verse and a simple guitar solo at the end.  big_smile  I'll make it so people on Noteflight can easily find it to get some feedback  smile

Re: Frozen Coco - A Scratch Band

The solo for WIBY sounds like The FIrst Noel  tongue  but that's alright.

I didn't originally like the idea of only C and D throughout the whole song, although I have to admit you made those two chords work very well  smile  but I really liked the transition into a nice I V vi IV progression (using A, B minor, and G) in the outro. I suggest adding a bridge section between the second verse and the last pre chorus, using the same chords as the outro, but maybe change the beat and the melody, so as to change stuff up before the last chorus, and create a contrast giving the song more depth.

Or maybe the melody of the bridge can echo the melody of the solo.

And since the listener will have already heard the bridge section, the outro will make more sense and fit in better.

Just giving ideas...I'm no songwriter  smile

The lyrics are nice...simple, rugged, but pretty. Do you have someone in mind when writing the lyrics?

Well the idea of a bridge makes sense, I also think the outro is a bit too much of a change, but I'm definitively keeping it. I'll mess a little with the song to see if I can do anything.  smile

As for that last question, probably, I don't remember  tongue

Also it seems like we'll use lots of piano/keys in our songs... Should one of us (both you and designer45 play keys, and I can make tracks in FL Studio or something) play keys or should we look for someone else?

EDIT: Added a pretty simple bridge, I think it works  tongue

Re: Frozen Coco - A Scratch Band

We've been a bit dead lately... Oh well, here's a random idea for an album/single cover:

http://i53.tinypic.com/2i95gzb.png

Pretty simple, just a quick sketch of our instruments in a room, made to look like an aged picture.

I think it'd fit either My Voice to You (which would be our debut) or my own song When I'm Besides You, as a picture to put in the background of a project, Youtube vid or something. When we decide on that I can write our band name and the song name with a handwritten font.

it would be cool if we made one music video sorta stop motion by drawing different frames on paper like that.

Re: Frozen Coco - A Scratch Band

Cool album picture.  smile

For the music video / project, we could all take pictures of us playing the instrument that we play on the recording (I think if we keep our faces out of the pictures it should be alright in terms of privacy, right?) and then make it cycle between the album cover and each of the pictures.

Let's finish My Voice to you already  mad  We just need the backup vocals, right?

And about getting a keyboardist, I'm fine with playing keys whenever needed, but if you want you can put in the main post (not in all caps or anything) "There's a spot open for a keyboardist," and if anyone good comes along, we take 'em in  smile

Both of those are pretty good ideas  big_smile  I imagine we could make a stopmotion-y thingy of us playing When I'm Besides You, and when the solo starts the pictures of us move over the stopmotion with lots of transparency. Heh, that sounds like something for a credits scene.  tongue

The stopmotion thing will take a lot of time, and pages to draw it though, haha. I'm kinda mediocre at drawing and I keep making mistakes. ._. Perhaps we could hire someone for that, not like normal bands do everything by themselves  tongue

Yep, apparently designer45 hasn't been online lately and leebee can't record. I have a mic somewhere but I've never liked the idea of singing, haha.

I would rather have you at the keys though, and if you can't record for whatever reason I'd just program the keys track in FL Studio.  tongue

"Best artist" is pretty subjective actually... But yeah, someone that is generally regarded as good by most Scratchers would do it. I can't really say much about this though.  tongue

Do you have an example somewhere, of what you can do? I don't recall seeing you post here though, sorry for that too  hmm

Perhaps we could replace both that "Frozen Coco" logo and the one we currently use in the banners, with one in another font. We should do some font browsing in DaFont perhaps.

Also my computer's audio randomly messed up again, so I'll have to backup the Reaper file, and all tracks for "My Voice to You" and finally bother to install Win7 (works decently on my dad's notebook, so why not here  tongue  ).

Guys... Should we start recording something else? The 2 song ideas in the first post would be great to mess with while we wait for designer45 to answer.

I've seen that one before, but we really should progress more on originals. What do you think about them?
