What's the best drawing program?

I've been thinking about buying photoshop but it looks like it's mostly used for editing photo's and not really drawing. What do people use to draw pictures from scratch? (No pun intended  tongue )

Yea- photoshop is an epic editing program- but you cn't draw anything... do you know how long it took me to learn how to make a circle!?!

Yesh. Best, and most simplest way into advanced digital imaging. And great for spriting.

And even better because of plugins. Got 100+ and counting.

Yes, you are missing a drawing tablet. You can't get very good DRAWINGS without it. Otherwise, you use pixel art, lines, curves, etc.

Paint.NET - Easy to use with many features
Gimp - Harder to use but has pretty much all the features you'll ever need  big_smile

Well paint.NET is good for beginners I guess.  I think that Gimp is really bad and hard to use.

If you scan your art then use paths for line art its as easy as oatmeal cookies.
