I need someone to host a minecraft server for free. If you've seen my FPScraft topic, this is the same thing, only a restart.

I know this may sound like a one-ended deal, but I'll offer some things for the host.

OP status on the server
Command of any team (besides white) (see team mod here)
Admin status on the forums
Simple URL to connect, no long IP address
An opinion in the decision-making process

In return, I ask for:

The host to port forward, etc.
The host to update the software ASAP when needed
The same benefits as above

If I can get this sorted out we can make an official topic, both here and in the minecraft forums.

Is minecraft.net free to play? never tried, just curious.
Both wikipedia and minecraft gave me no clear answer to this question while writing this.

What is the advantage of running your own server? See what other users are doing?

well, classic is free but beta is pay2play. But I want my own server because I want to use server mods, which are very specific.

If you need a webhost, try Koolserve (KoolServe.com), VeeServe (VeeServe.com), or x10hosting (x10hosting.com).

Maybe you find a free linux host that does not show the keyword minecraft while searching for. But then you will have to install all by yourself, no click and run.

Again, what are server mods good for?

See my other topic in the OP. It will have aircraft and team mods, so that there is a roleplay element to the game.
