Sprite grouping

Okay this might be a little hard to explain, but here's what I'm thinking.

Okay, say you have some sprites that you want a sprite to react to each of them the same way. Like if you have, say, trees that you want your sprite to be able to climb. Now, you would either have to make them all the same color, or have a bunch of 'or' blocks. But if there was a new sort of variable, like a list, but called a 'group' or something along those lines. That way, you could make a group called 'trees' and assign all of the tree sprites to that group.

Another example is if you wanted to make different materials. Like you could have different metals in a group, because not all metals are the same color. Likewise, not all dirt is the same color.

Also, something cool you could do is assign ledges to a group, and that way your sprite could hang on to ledges withought having all the ledges the same color.

So basically what I'm saying is you could be able to assign sprites to a group, that way, other sprite could interact with them all the same way without using the same color or a lot of 'if' blocks.

Re: Sprite grouping

I remember suggestions like this before, and I always supported  smile

I fall: It's a tragedy. You fall: It's comedy.
Hmph enjoy your fall - I get a lovely spring... without pans of new leaves.
