Cicadas

http://i51.tinypic.com/9h026s.jpg

THEY. ARE. AWFUL.

They are all over my neighborhood right now and they're load and they shed a skin that stays completely together, so it looks like there are twice as many.

Have any of you seen cicadas so far this year?

Re: Cicadas

I never see them, but we have so many during the summer it's not even funny. They hide under the palm trees' leaves, but they are SO LOUD it's like they're sitting on my face  tongue

Re: Cicadas

This is apparently the 17 and 13 years cycles together along with one other one, but according to my parents, the last 13 cycle had another 4 cycles with it or something and when you drove, the road crunched.  If you bumped a tree, hundreds came flying out.  Thank goodness it's rained a couple of times since the emerged otherwise we'd have way larger numbers.

Re: Cicadas

I remember finding those hanging to trees and the mailbox when I lived in SC.
Good times.
