Actually, Namco only took down Scratch's pacman projects, not Google's, not others.
I am on the neutral side. Pacman is copyrighted, however they didn't tell Google to take down theirs, or others.

Okay, I'm going to take over Pacman and make it MINE. Thanks, Namco.  big_smile

What NAMCO did was against Trade Policy. It's a little thing called fair use, and Scratch is educational. Theoretically, we could sue them. Don't try to defend them, it wasn't infringing any copyright laws because of Fair Use.

Somehow, everyone manages to ignore this post even though it's been said at least five times.

If you are reading this, please read to the end, because if you don't you won't know what's at the end. Don't just skip to the end though otherwise you won't be able to read the middle, which is most important. Now you must be wondering why you just read all that, the reason is you may have not noticed something, read it again and see if you notice it this time  smile

How would you feel if your Ace Attorney projects were taken down?

I'd respect that it was copywright law and I'd delete all my copyright-infringing projects.

It isn't infringing copyright at all. Fair use.

Re: My E-mail to NAMCO

I am going to send an email:

Dear Namco,
Picture a kid who REALLY likes an artist. They like them so much that they decided to, for a school project, draw a picture which looked similar to one of the artists paintings. So the kid draws a picture which looks almost identical to the picture. The kid sees that a lot of people are doing this, only some are selling the pictures an getting money for them. The next day the artist walks into the kid's school room and tells the teacher to take down and burn the picture the child made because the artist copyrighted it. How do you think this kid felt about the artist after that? The kid works for hours to make the picture look so good, then the artist comes in and makes the teacher BURN it? I know how I would feel, hate. I wouldn't like the artist AT ALL! I would rip up all the things I bought from the artist and NEVER buy anything from them AGAIN.
This has actually happened before! In a way, the story is just a metaphor. The teacher: The Scratch Team, from the MIT lab. The boy: a scratcher named 124scratcher. The artist: you. You told The Scratch Team to take down ONE project by 124scratcher which was actually protected by Fair Use. The scratchers project was educational, shared, and was nonprofit. This means the project was fully legal. However, you decided to tell the Scratch Team to take it off. This was evil of you to do, you could have gone to a profitable website which had a Namco game and told THEM to take it off, but you targeted a children's website which was educational and nonprofit.
If you don't like their project being on, why give DMCA notices to everyone who has made a game on the internet, just Google search Pac-Man and you will get over 25,300,000 results, now you can start clicking on links and finding ones that go against what you want. Also go to http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic … 87&p=1 to see many Scratchers protesting against NAMCO, so why wait? Do it now if you really care, otherwise, one educational project taken off even when it is legal? Just think about it.

Tell me what you think.  smile

124scratch. aside from that, nice!

You may now request a color on the petition.

And, as a note, add a line telling them to reply, or all of us will upload even more projects. Including me. The organizer of the protest.
