Scratch crashes whenever I open it! The first time it happened, reinstalling worked, but this time it hasn't worked
I have a Windows 7 Professional.

Hmm, is it possible you are running out of hardrive space? That might have an effect on it. If not, then I don't know what to tell you.

Taking into account you use Windows 7, Scratch might not have full support for Windows 7. If you think that's not the case, click the Start logo and then Computer. Look at the button. It should say something like:
PC Workgroup: WORKGROUPNAMEHERE Memory: MEMORY [byte-size]
. Processor: [Processor name]
We need to get attention on the Memory part. If it's lower than 2 gigs, it is probably because of your memory.
I have steps to get more memory:
1. Place all unwanted files onto a new folder called Delete.
2. Either:
2a. Use command prompt to navigate to the folder that contains the subfolder Delete, and delete the folder. OR
2b. Since you're already in the folder, go back to the folder containing the Delete subfolder, and delete the Delete (sub)folder.

Uh oh, I hope you aren't still having this issue. Can you say more about what happens when you try to open Scratch? The more details you can give, the better chance we have of figuring out the cause.
Also - do you have Windows 7 pro 64 bit or 32bit? I'm not sure how to find that out on Windows (I use Linux), but maybe in System settings?

This happens to me in Windows 7.

64bit. I've figured out that it sometimes does this- yesterday it was working fine, but today it's not
I tried restarting, but it didn't work
Edit: Everything seems to be crashing
You name it, it's crashed. All except Windows Task Manager lol xD
Edit again: I just restarted again, and it works. =P

If it doesn't work on 7, maybe you need to upgrade to Vista LOL JK XD.
Maybe there's an update that you need to install?

Are even things baked into Windows, like Windows Explorer, crashing? This almost sounds like system instability.

Perhaps theres just an issue with Scratch and Windows 7. I wonder how many other people have this issue....

You probably have WAY too much memory.

Well like I said, that sounds like your system itself could be unstable. You should run some tests on your computer, including scanning for malware (I recommend Malwarebytes, but you can use whatever antivirus you already have) checking your CPU temperatures, and testing to see if your RAM or hard drive is going bad.

It what i mean by memory is megabytes. Like say the project is huge and you have very little "memory" left. It could probably crash.

It sounds to me like Scratch crashes even when they open the default project. Besides, the project would have to be absolutely massive to completely fill the computer's RAM.

On my computer, Scratch itself (with the default project) takes up 14MB. Say they have really little RAM, it could still exceed it... But I doubt that's the problem. They can open other programs just fine.

If you say that everything is crashing, I guess it's just because you're not patient enough to wait for the computer to finish the task.
When program "don't respond", I'll just wait for about 15 seconds. In most cases, they will continue to work. If they still don't respond, I'll go ahead and kill them.
