I was doing my homework while listening to the radio. There were ads on, and there was one JCPenney ad and it said something like this:
The JC Penney Ad wrote:
WEIRD SPOKESWOMAN: THE JCPENNEY SALE IS GOING ON NOW! GET 20% OFF ALL OF EVERYTHING! NO EXCLUSIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WEIRD SPOKESWOMAN : EXCLUSIONS APPLY. Weird fine print talk removed by Musicstar888-Please don't put weird fine print messages on Scratch, it's extremely annoying and can cause brain damage to some young Scratchers.
Is that stupid or what?
Please discuss annoying ads like this one.

That reminds me of an ad for a depression medication that I saw once where it was like: Side effects include nightmares, heart attacks, mood swings...other stuff....and death.
It made taking the drug seem not even worth it.

I saw this Celebrex commercial:
SIDE EFFECTS MAY INCLUDE ULCERS, WHICH MAY CAUSE DEATH.
It's so funny because sometimes the side effects of medication are worse than the sickness that you're facing in the first place.

I was in the car on my way home from the mall, and I had some radio show on and some dude was ranting as usual. He was talking about something Kurt Cobain said about MTV, and he was like "16 years later, MTV is still up and running successfully; Not thanks to Nirvana, but to Jersey Shore."
I found it pretty hilarious at the time for whatever reason

Jersey Shore.
Torture in the fullest.
Just my opinion.

Um, thats kind of not funny. It's pretty horrible, and definitely not a laughing matter.

I'm not lauging at the death part, I'm laughing at the way the spokesman on the commercial said it. He didn't even change the tone of his voice, in fact, the "death" part seemed more relaxed than any other part of the commercial.
I guess they just want you to think that death is nothing to worry about.

Yes, it's a form of propaganda. That's why I always mute during commercials.

But it is. I agree with rufflebee.

I know it is. That's how commercials are trying to get you to buy the stuff. They list the risks so smoothly, as if they're part of the benefits. They want you to think that there aren't any risks, then you buy it, and you don't realize that the spokesman was saying the word "death" until it's too late.

Then people can't sue.

Exactly. And then the commercial guys get to keep all their money and to continue killing innocent people with their side effects. All because of the way someone says something.

Have you ever seen a bottle of pills?
Most have the potential side effects written on them
But I would hope someone listens carefully to a commercial about medicine before even thinking about buying it anyhow
The advertisers do what you described to inform you of the possible risks without scaring you. They usually also include statistics, like "less than 4% of users suffer from [insert] after taking [insert]" anyway

You're overreacting a bit. Usually death almost never occurs unless with a strong treatment like chemotherapy. Also, the thing that causes death is always treatable or they wouldnt even put it on the shelf.

What I'm saying generally relates to shopaholics, too. They shop and shop and shop and they don't stop until they see their credit card bill.

Once I saw a commercial about depression and some kind of bad disease and the side effects were the sickness.

I know. The chances of dying from pills is small. Well, the side effects, anyway.

That can actually be a medical disorder. I saw it on the twilight zone.
