Experimental Manor

Hi, some friends and I created a game for a school project, and here it is, Experimental Manor.
High Quality: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/LostDuck/185540
Low Quality: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/LostDuck/186511

Game Info

Setting
In an old mansion somewhere in europe, the exact location is unknown for the manor has sent waves to intercept electormagnetic pulses.

Story
A spine chilling scream has awoken you from a deep sleep. You find yourself in a luxurious bedroom and you look out the window to find yourself on the top floor of a mansion; suddenly you notice a car outside the garden gates. You scramble for your cell phone but notices that it does not work, your last thought is to escape to the vehicle. As you turn, a being inside what seems like a buble is hovering over you. You can see agony in the eyes of the person trapped within the water cage. You take up your courage and free the encaged human. As you leap to catch her in her fall, her body and spirit slowly fades away. In the distance you could hear a faint "Thank you..." and as you hear those words, you notice bubbles arising from your finger tips. You think 'this cannot be happening, how am I able to, to, to use magic?... What's this behind my neck?' As you feel your way around you realize that it's a small opening, 'could I have been injected? is that what happened to the girl whose visage was filled with sorrow and pain?' Whatever has happened to the people taken hostage here, you know that you must try to free their souls from being used as test subjects in this accursed mansion, this... experimental manor...

Objective
Your objective is to escape the mansion safely.

Hazards
Random encounters with animated and re-animated creatures that inhabit the manor. (experimental humanoids)

Defence
You will be armed with spells obtained in the manor through battles with the tested subjects. (explosion, ice rain, thunder clap, etc.)
These spells can be accessed with the number pad to the right of your keyboard, the first spell you obtain is bubble, and you can cast this spell when you click number [1] and you can guard using number [2], unfortunately the shield does not protect you for the majority of your battles, but it is useful against the beings who roam the halls.

Lives
You have 3 lives in total to accomplish your goal.

Strategy
Gain an abundance of spells from monstes to enhance your arsenal before you face the one who guards the door to freedom, for once you enter his room, he will not let you escape till only one is standing...

Its still a work in progress but if you'd like to learn more, you can visit http://experimentalmanor.wikispaces.com/

And if you'd like to comment or make suggestions, I'd be more than pleased to accept them.

Re: Experimental Manor

Cool game play, kind of reminds me of the old final fantasy games.

Thanks for the interest, even I can't see the game on the website >< I'm guessing it's because it's such a big file that it won't work. =S I can't think of any other alternative... but if you'd like I can try to compress everything so you can play the jist of it but with less quality.

My Java isn't working, so n matter what I can't play it (sshh... I downloaded it into the last place on my desktop (not really, i have like 5 left. But I'm saving them for games people are praising). Make a sequel

That was quick response, but it still does'nt work online, maybe you just hit the compress sound and images thing?(because it has the same number of sprites and scripts)

Re: Experimental Manor

Hey! I downloaded it, and it is very very good and that accounts for the whopping file size  smile

Re: Experimental Manor

The reason it didn't work on the site is the compression never works if you uncheck that box. Having a high and low quality version is a great idea!

Re: Experimental Manor

Thanks, I hope to make a new game soon that's not so big in size so I wouldn't have to resort to making two version =P.

Re: Experimental Manor

lol, all those scripts make it a large file, and all those costumes! You nearly hit the file size limit there! (10 mb)

Haha, I worked realli hard to make everything original. It was tough work but I think the end product was great considering it's my first game.
