Computer Specs

Post your computer's specs (CPU, RAM, GPU, etc.) here! Also, post how loud it is when you turn it on.

My computer, a late-2008 HP Pavilion dv7 "desktop replacement" laptop:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 @ 2.4 Ghz (I might check to see if it is easy to overclock)
GPU: Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT
RAM: 4GB (I think it is DDR3, but it might only be DDR2)
HDD: Fujitsu MHZ2320BH-G2 320GB 5400 RPM

Other stuff:

Display: 17.1" display built into laptop
Mouse: Logitech M505 Wireless Laser Mouse ($25-$35)
Headphones: Sony Piiq Triiq headphones ($30)

It sounds like a Boeing 747 at takeoff.  lol

Re: Computer Specs

I think I made a thread about my build earlier, but these are the specs:

CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 (3.0GHz)
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 3300 IGP (That's the 790GX chipset, in case you're wondering.)
RAM: 4GB DDR3
HDD: Western Digital 750GB Caviar Green (7200 RPM)
MoBo: Asus M4A78T-E
Monitor: 20" LG Flatron W2043TE
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium

Because the hard drive is so quiet, mine is about as loud on startup as it is while running. Unfortunately, that's pretty loud compared to other computers. I guess that's the price you pay for having four 120mm cooling fans.  lol

@Harakou:  yikes  Nice system! My hard drive is nearly whisper quiet, but these fans, they are the cause of 747-ness (  tongue  )! Anyway, that is a nice mid-range gaming rig, but I would recommend getting more RAM, because 4GB really isn't that much anymore.  I would upgrade my comp, but laptops aren't exactly easy to upgrade  lol .

Re: Computer Specs

Hmm....

GIGABYTE [insert random numbers and letters here] Motherboard
AMD Athlon II X2 (dual) 240 Processor clocked @ 2.8GHz
6.0 GB of RAM
500GB of HDD space
1GB Sapphire 5570 gfx card
700W power supply (I forget the manufacturer)
Win7 Pro x64
All wrapped up in a nice black Antec case, with a fan on the top

//Other stuff below
19' Samsung SyncMaster Monitor
Logitech Wireless Mouse+Keyboard and Zonet Wireless Internet Card
Some 2000-ish Sony Viao speakers (That still sound good)
A pair of Sennheiser HD 201's for even better quality sound
LiteOn 40x external CD drive (Lightscribe, write/read; Bought originally for Netbook)
10x6 drawing area Monoprice tablet

This happens to be my mid-high gaming rig. I also do lots of digi imaging. Very quiet start up, a near 20 second one at that.

I'm just happy I have a computer.

Would you like to post my netbook's stats? Would that make you feel better?

Acer AOA-150 Netbook (these have problems with speakers, vibrates HDD at certain frequency)
160GB HDD
Win7 Pro x32
1GB of RAM
8' screen
An un-useable built-in webcam
A tiny keyboard
Blue

Did I mention 5hr battery life?

Thanks. I'll admit, I wouldn't mind a few more gigs of RAM. It won't do me much good right now though, as the GPU is pretty underpowered. Once I get the money, I'm going to add a dedicated card. (Probably a Radeon HD 5770)

@blazerv82: Nice system, I must say. How does it handle games?

Runs them just fine. I run it so it runs smoothly, while also looking HD-ish at the same time.

I can play Farcry 2 and make it look like the PS3/X360 versions without slowdown. Blur runs at an acceptable 20FPS (for me, it's acceptable), and Red Alert 3 never slows down at max settings.

I can't play games like Rome Total War at full speed on my laptop, but it was only $500. I mainly do development anyway.

Oh, the GPU is integrated? I thought it was a dedicated card. I guess "chipset" should have been my clue.....  tongue

Woah, most people have pretty nice systems! I thought most people would be running Pentiums (no offense urhungry  tongue ) and lower-end Core 2 Duos. I guess that the people that actually know their comp's specs usually are gamers, and therefore have nice systems.

I think that makes the most sense. Most people with a 2 GHz Pentium 4 and 1GB of RAM probably don't know/care enough about their hardware to post here.  tongue

Who has a Pentium 4 and one gig of RAM? All of my Pentium 3 and 4's have 128 megabytes of RAM. I still consider 1 gigabyte a lot.

I do have a Pentium computer, right behind me. It kills our circuit breaker every time I try to turn it on, so it became the night table :P I wanna say the specs are:

Pentium 3
30GB HDD
256 MB of RAM originally, upgraded to 512 MB
256 MB Nvidia Gfx card
Dual CD Drives
Media plug in (Floppy FTW!)

It was the most expensive Sony Viao you could get in 2000-ish. It was originally a Media computer...then a turned pseudo gaming rig. Boy, it could barely run anything made in 2002+ well. It ran NFSHP1 just fine however :)

Both my parents' desktops have a Pentium 4 and 1 GB of RAM. 128 MB? We have a 10 year old Sony Vaio laptop that has that much...

I have an Athlon XP 2100+ system nearby, and alot of parts in our garage (including a Voodoo 1, and a 486DX). I meant I thought most people's main system would be using those CPUs.

@urhungry A P4 with 128MB RAM? That is like saying you have a i7 rig with a 200GB HDD.  Most PIIIs and P4s should have at least 256MB, and that is for a low-end model from those generations.  tongue

@rabbit1131 Cool! I have seen a laptop with a 6-core desktop i7 and 12GB RAM. If only I could afford it (it was like $9000 (no meme is intended  tongue ) )
