I'm in my school's drama club so for the past few months we've been working on some play
I work backstage because I didn't feel like auditioning for a role or anything so we planned all the stuff out and painted and whatnot
We spent a lot of time planning (not wisely, anyway) so we didn't get much time in for painting so we had like four practices (each practice being like an hour and a half) to paint all five of the backdrops
And the band teacher's daughter and I were the only ones who could properly paint so we spent a lot of time fixing everyone else's mistakes
And the band teacher ended up staying like five hours after to finish everything for us
And the actual performers haven't been doing any better
The show's tonight and it's probably going to be horrible but I won't be able to see it because I'll be at the back of the front of the stage holding up a huge plywood board with a mule that I drew on it
I'm kind of disappointed that I won't see it because we've been working on this for months
I'll be able to hear it though I guess
But if the rest of the set design crew weren't as incompetent as they were I wouldn't have to be holding up scenery because the band teacher would've had enough time to build a frame for it so it could stand up on its own but nope
So to sum our production up from the looks of it:
-___________-
So yeah
Plays and whatnot
Have you ever been in one or worked backstage for one or been to one or something
I've been to plenty of them but this is only the second one I've actually worked in
This summer I'm going to try to get into my local theater and work on art stuff but that isn't very likely because I'm eleven
Or I might audition for a position in a show but probably not because their ones for this summer don't really seem like stuff I'd like to be in but I might change my mind

We're doing The Wizard of Oz:
Dorothy - Creepy Year 9 emo kid, can't sing to save her life
Tin Man - Steven Schnabel, short kinda-nerdy Year 7 that sings really high and wears a saucepan
Munchkins - My friends, the embarassment!!

I am a horrible singer.
My voice sounds like gargling walruses.

i'm a pretty bad singer too
but the standards for my school's plays aren't very high
and as for the local theater, if i wanted a part i'd just get one without any singing parts because that place is some serious business
but i'm not really much of a performer
i'm pretty good at acting and memorizing stuff and i like it but it isn't really something i'd like to seriously work with
but painting and whatnot i'm pretty decent with and i like to and i still get my name in little print on the play's program so if i'm working with plays i'll probably just stick with that

i'm a good singer
i mean when i want to i'm good// which is aka never in public
but anyways no
i think i drew a little background once for a skit about a castle or something but that's not worth a rotten gummy bear
it took like 5 minutes
anyways my school doesn't do anything creative
like, at all
other than young authors but everyone is weird so that's it

yeah
there's always next year
anyway yeah
i just got back from our show
i think they did good but i don't know
i was handing out programs the entire show
well like 20 minutes into it people stopped showing up so i just sat there and talked with the rest of the art crew
i'm guessing they had someone else hold up the backdrop
and my family all said the play was good but they're my family so they kind of have to say it was good
and all the cast said it went well but of course they think it went well they're the cast
