Allow sprites to leave the stage while the project is running, then snap them back to the stage when scripts are stopped.
I assume sprites are not allowed to completely leave the stage because they can become lost to new scratchers. This failsafe makes sense, but I think it is most important while the project is stopped and in development. (and perhaps also for drag-able sprites.)
I think usually when a scratcher tells a sprite to go to x: 1000 y: 1500, they really want it to go there, so that line drawing is correct or so that they can have seamless scrolling...
BYOB has a menu option to toggle this. That could work too, but I think snapping back when scripts are stopped can satisfy both types of scratchers without an extra control.
(The problem is also discussed here, and here... , but I don't think this idea has been discussed yet.)

I support! BYOB has it, so Scratch should too. (BYOB has so much Scratch should.

Hmm, sounds like it would work.

I don't even see how it's a failsafe, they can just right-click on the thumbnail and choose "show."
