Sorry I wasn't on yesterday or the day before, but let me tell you why.
Well, the computer I was working on, while I was at school, got a blue screen of death. I knew that it was coming, but I didn't expect it so soon. My dad did a COMPLETE system restore, and that wiped everything out. All my scratch projects, all my flash projects, all my minecraft saves, EVERYTHING. So now I have to start over, and my projects I was working on in Flash? THEY WERE ALMOST DONE. And now I have to redo them all. I'm pretty angry, really. We finally got the computer running again, but I don't really want to work on that computer again. Maybe I should use dropbox or something?

Why didn't you guys pull the files you needed off first? All you would have had to do was
a) Pull out the hard drive and drop it in another computer, then transfer needed files.
or
b) Boot a Linux distro (like Ubuntu) from a disk and back up the files to a flash drive.
Live and learn I guess. Not much you can do about it now.

The thing is, my dad didn't KNOW I had files I actually wanted to KEEP on there, so he didn't bother, because I was at school

If you knew it was going to happen, couldn't you've done something?

But I didn't think it was at that point yet, I thought that it would be at least another month before it died.

That's not what he's talking about.
Sorry to hear about you losing everything. And yes, get Dropbox. Cloud-based storage is kind of awesome.

No, I hate macs, and it wasn't because of windows. My dad got that computer at a pawn shop because it was cheap. There must have been SOMETHING wrong with it.
And now we've found it

That it crashes.
I didn't say we knew WHY it crashed, but we knew a computer purchased at a pawn shop COULDN'T be perfect.

The fact that it's a Mac isn't the problem. The problem is that you got it from a pawn shop. The way pawn shops get their inventory is through people selling unwanted items. In other words, someone sold the pawn shop their broken computer.

Sorry to hear of your lose of files!
I strongly recommend Dropbox...it gives me a lot of peace of mine as well as the flexibility to work from any computer in the house. And it's free up to something like 2Gb.

Yep, it's 2Gb. (I just checked; it looks really useful, actually.)

Something like that happened to me. My hard drive died. I didn't get it from a pawn shop. My aunt gave it to me because she got a new one. The Operating System wasn't the problem (Mac OS X 10.6).
