Re: Kitcat

This is an exciting mod! It's great to see some more collaborative works coming out in this region! I would just like to point out a few things you should do to improve your mod/meet the legal requirements of a Scratch modification!

Is there any reason the .image file needs to be downloaded seperately? That could really confuse people!  A few of the new blocks you've added appear to come from the block library thread, I'm sure that the people who shared and created them would appreciate some credit, but I can't seem to see it anywhere!

In terms of legality, it might be worth reading the Scratch Terms of use. You are sadly not allowed to have a modified version of Scratch upload projects to the Scratch site, so you ought to remove the share options there. I believe that if you google "modshare" the first link will take you to a site created by Daffy22 to share modified projects! I know it's difficult but you are technically not allowed to use the word Scratch anywhere in your mod unless in the sentance "based on Scratch by the MIT media lab" (a phrase you need to have visible on your mod - most mods put it under their logo) but your window currently opens as Scratch1.4 of 30-Jun-09 and the Scratch cat appears as your logo for the .exe file  hmm

I was unable to create variables and recieved a red error box when I opened kitcat too, but otherwise well done all of you for the work you have put into this! I hope you don't think I'm chastising you, I'm just trying to give you some advice  wink

thank you. I will remove the share tab and give ALL of the people on scratch who contributed to it credit. I will take the download off the internet for now until I'm done with changing it. yes, sadly, I have not known that and thank you again as I atempt to change everything to the speciefications. and the answer to your question: weebly does not allow more than 5 mb of uploads, so I need to make the image file seperate. and, I cannot change the red box that pops up, and I need some advice!!

Re: Kitcat

Oh, I see! That does make sense, I've experienced the same problem with the upload limit! One option there is to get a dropbox account, you have up to 1GB of storage free and you can host any file you like on it, then link to the download file on the page! Otherwise you could have a message at the top of the page saying please download the zip folder and also the image, then save the image inside the zip folder! If you don't have to zip the .image file, leave it as a file  smile

If you need any help, just ask! People here are always happy to help out, we have a truly wonderful community here!

Re: Kitcat

Oops, my bad! I use it and find it extremely useful for collaborations, file sharing and file/image hosting.

(to get the web url for a file in your Dropbox folder, drop the file into your "public" folder and then right click >> Dropbox >> copy public link and then paste somewhere to see the link!)

Re: Kitcat

Have you tried this:

hold down shift and click the hole in the "R" of the Scratch logo.

Select "Turn full-screen off"

alt click on the logo several times (probably 3) until the logo itself has a set of circular buttons around it.

click the grey button on the right called "repaint me".

Draw or import your new logo into the paint editor that pops up.

click ok in the paint editor so that the logo appears where the old one was.

Hold down shift and click where the "R" in Scratch was and select "save image for end user".

Scratch will close and when you reopen it the new logo should still be there!

The above steps can of course be applied to your mod!

yeah, my freind tried it(actually, he figured it out on his own) and I have applied it, but I can't figure outhow to change the logo on the upper left hand corner (I did it with the text). I know that you (maybe) know how to do it, based on the fact that you made Panther, wich, by the way, is AWESOME!!!!!

Re: Kitcat

The red box is because you have a missing skin item (I think so, but I lost the mod). I'll try and find a fix without you having to reload the skin.

I've tried EVERY NICK AND CRANNY, but I just can't do it. I finaly gave up and got the image file for the scratch source thingy.THAT works allright (thank goodness!!). All of the new blocks in the old old old old old old old old old old old old old old old version are from the block library, so take them all. All of the other versions are going to be password protected, so you can't turn the fill screen off.

Re: Kitcat

Pretty nice Mod. I find the 'Flip' and Bounce off of sprites blocks pretty cool.  smile  Though the Password Protection is pretty weird. I type in a password and it keeps asking me for one. So I figured the password was already set  tongue  But anyways pretty cool mod!

Doesn’t the name “Kitcat” have a few copyright infringements?

yep! I already set the password, and I FORGOT WHAT IT IS! I'll go look. It is meant for a script to only be run by the Devs.

you were waiting for that, weren't you? Anyways, I also forgot to add that to the menu. locale mesh will be out in version 1.2 and WWM will be out in version 1.3   you will have to wait until then. 1.2 should be out in a few weeks, and 1.3 should be out in a few months.

It's hard, and we already figured how to do it on Linux and Apple using Python. Just be patient.
