You screw up = Practice. Maybe you could even play it at a slower tempo and speed it up in Audacity but I've never done that, and I'd do that only if it's WAY too complicated.

Amp screws up = Not sure, depends on how it screws up. If it really screws up that often you should see if you can repair it. Or just screw it and use a VST amp lol. I use Guitar Rig 4 but it's not free - though I'm sure you can find some free VST guitar amps on Google.

If you're playing out of time, consider playing along to your song. That plus always recording multiple takes and picking the best one works for me smile
