Yeah. We were all under our desks for 45 mins plus.
A huge tsunami hit the east coast. It's really bad.
Very scary. The US puts it at Magnitude 8.9, Japan puts it at 7.9. Theoretically, there were 3 earthquakes. My dad was at the top of this tall building, and it was REALLY swaying and even twisting.
Very Sad.

8.9 earthquake,7.9 after shock, 150 m of coast, Tsunamis up to 10m.

I live in Tokyo, Japan. The earthquake was quite small to me, but my neighbors were telling different stories. I'm glad I don't live in Sendai, the center point of one of the earthquakes. I was literally riding my bike home form school when all the lamp posts started shaking. I didn't think it was anything until I saw the huge mess in my closet when I got home. Yes, it was a bit weird seeing my closet so messy.
I hope my relatives are okay
They live in Kyoto.
Oh, and to Jonathanpb, I do live in Tokyo. I've been here for 5 years. I live in a normal 2 story house.

O_o I just went to one of your (iCode's) projects to check if you were okay... but then I went to Miscellaneous and saw this topic
It's good to here that you're okay... but do you have any injuries? Are your family and friends okay? Is your dad okay? (Scratchers really care about each other
)
Being under desks for over 45 minutes... it must have been terrifying

That earthquake was weird! I'm in Tokyo right now. The news is talking about the earthquake like crazy!
My closet's a huge mess.
O_o Uh... do you live in Tokyo or not? If you don't, at least it wasn't your house/apartment/whatever that got ruined

What's up with all the disasters? And didn't you get bored under your desk for 45 minutes? I have trouble sitting at my desk for five minutes. I guess it was probably too terrifying to get bored. Idk, worst earthquake I've ever seen didn't do any damage and I was 5.

It's apparently the 6th largest earthquake, ALL TIME, FOR ALL OF EARTH.

The only good thing about this is that you can say truthfully that you've survived it

I saw this on BBC News this morning, it was the only story they were reporting all day. It started around 80 miles from Sendai and 200 miles from Tokyo off in the sea. Apparently, the whole tectonic plate which Japan was on rumbled violently. The magnitude was recently and officially announced as 8.9, the 6th most powerful earthquake ever.
And then the tsunami. Have any of you guys seen the videos of the sludge, water and debris moving over the land? It was scary just to watch it on the news, moving so fast!
I feel really sorry for the Japenese right now, especially those in Sendai.

Even google is doing it on their main home/search page. But mom says they can get back up easier, unlike Haiti.

I saw the tsunamis on T.V., breathtaking, but terrifying. Earthquake about 12000 times worse than Christchurch. Each point the magnitude goes up, it's a thousand times stronger. I saw tsunamis sweep away glasshouses, carrying away thousands of cars, boats, houses, buses, and assorted debris. I'm just glad it didn't strike on land. THAT would have been nasty. It is anyway.

Wow, it's pretty bad. Hold onto your hair. :O
