Yeah, I found that the 4 way scrolling map thing I posted isn't going to cut it since new features in the newer versions of scratch let you do it more simply. I am now coding a 4 way scrolling project and will upload it to this profile.

Scrolling engine made specifically for this game

This is the minimum you need to make something like this work. Its 4 sprites and gives as much map space as needed. Without this, the number of sprites would crash the program.
It was pretty easy with the string blocks included with the newest version of scratch.
The only issue is that it loops the backgrounds which is not good.

Yeah one thing I noticed is that sometimes the item buttons don't come up fixing that would be good.
I am just going to finish the scrolling thing today, then the most important aspects of the game are done. Other things that have to be done is like an inventory viewer and a monster viewer but we already have a very basic version of this and it shouldn't be too hard to make.
We might need some people to make maps and stuff since everyone else left I think. I'll just go and pick some people off some other failing pokemon collab

So i hope you like my engine and would love to help

Yeah sorry not accepting new Scratchers for this. If we were I think you would need better projects to show as examples for programming help, or better art for map making.

K I am done the scrolling base, its the newest project on my "my stuff" page.
Features:
-4 sprites, this means it is compatible with large scale games
-Shows black screen for off limits area
-Able to change to diffrent maps (ie setting a variable to "forest" will show the forest world and setting it to "town" will show the town.)

I do Have Photoshop And Can Create a Logo for you, I'm not very good at doing maps Tho well Not anymore, i used to do them very well in paint when i was 8
And i'm not a NEW SCRATCHER I just signed up on this page to get other projects! You're also welcome to use my Charater Engine aswell Oh and the diagonal Glitch i fixed! so yea PLZ! I'll do Logos and stuff like that But not tilemaps
Designer - Photoshop, C4DOffline
Dude I didn't say you could be a part of this. First of all, no new scratchers and second you have to show some examples of your work that show that you are able to do what we need you to do.

Nah, tile maps would be too much of a pain for me to code despite their scalability. If there is a need for tilemaps later on then I can see what I can do.

About the item bug, I've never actually had that happen before. Are you sure you just didn't have any more items?
Anyway, I just finished adding in all of the status effects from pokemon, minus a few obscure ones such as curse or infatuation. I have some test moves with 100 accuracy that you can get in the dojo for free.

Next update I'm going to try and make the special attack and special defense stats.
I'm also going to try and rewrite the next state code, because it's getting extremely hard to edit the project with my computer.

Yeah, I've had the item bug appear on my computer, with the new flash player. To trigger it, I died at a dark lord, then I pressed green flag to restart the game, perhaps, when you die it should broadcast that one broadcast that readies it for upload? I dunno, I didn't code it
As for maps, I had a break though idea that will save a TON of file space. In Scratch I noticed, small pictures are generally smaller in file size. I imported a picture at 16 kb and used the grow tool on it and the file size skyrocketed to 68 kb despite being the same image! To take advantage of this fact, all the map costumes will be only about 1/3 of the screen size but will be re sized to 480x360 which is the dimensions of the stage.
Kayybee, what tool do you generally use to make pokemon maps? I need to know before anything starts with the maps.

I can't get the bug to reproduce itself.
It's probably just something with the flash player.
EDIT: Just segmented the next_state script, making editing it and understanding it a lot easier.
EDIT2: And of course my computer freezes and I lose all of the work I did.

Okay. Redid the segmentation of the Next State script.
Also added in Special Attack and Special Defense. Fire Wave and Wind Blast are special attacks while Energy Blast and Spikes are Physical.

I used to use Tiled, but now I use stencyl.

Yeah tiled sounds good, since not everyone can access stencyl.

You could use this for your tiles.

We are not looking in to tile based engines at the moment, just tile based art. If we do switch to tiles in the future I think I will code it myself.

Ok

Tiled and stencyl have basically the same function.
I just like stencyl better because my tilesets are imported for all of my maps.
the problem is, I have mixed tiles, from gen 3 and 4, so i might need to find some more.
It's not that big of a problem though.
