I've seen many topics with questions like, "When do I get my signature?", or, "How long until I'm a Scratcher instead of New Scratcher?". This post will solve that. You become a Scratcher by participating in Scratch. Making forum posts, projects, and commenting on others' projects or galleries will get you the Scratcher title. Here are some more tips on each category.
Forum Posting
1. Don't spam! Spam will get you in trouble, and it makes people mad! Be certain your post is important to the conversation before posting it.
2. Start a conversation. A friendly conversation about a video game, Scratch project, TV series, or anything else will surely get many replies after a while, plus you can talk with like-minded people about your interests.
3. Play some games on the TBG. The Text Based Games forum is my personal favorite on getting posts. Simply choose a game and post a relevant action or input. This can also get you started on a fun game!
Comments
1. Don't spam! Spam will get you in trouble, and it makes people mad! Make sure if you post a link to a project that the project you're commenting on is actually asking for links.
2. Be nice! Saying, "This project is terrible!" will not help the Scratcher improve the project.
3. Be constructive. Saying "The gravity could be better." is a constructive comment because it explains why the project isn't up to par, or as good as it can be.
4. The Big Ten. Even though you're new, try The Big Ten program. I learned this from a project by ChaoticD. The Big Ten is simply going to the Newest Projects area, finding ten projects, and giving them constructive criticism, a compliment, or a Love-It. Bonus: When they thank you, you'll get messages!
Making Projects
1. Don't spam! Projects that are just a shark that does nothing might seem cool to you, but many Scratchers don't like that. Try to include at least one script per sprite so people can't argue that it won't do anything.
2. Explain your project. In the project notes, describe what the project is and how it works.
3. Give credit. If you get an idea or sprite from somebody, be sure to credit them in the project notes.
4. Don't be mean. Insulting a Scratcher, political figure, or even a TV or book character is a big no-no. People will get angry, and there could be a huge argument about it.
Comment with comments, please! If you like it, please comment!

You also forgot to mention commenting well on other people's projects. But, otherwise than that, great post! Well formated, too. Great job. If there was a love-it button on the forums, I would click it on here.

Scratcher status is based on activity, signature is given after 15 days.

Back when I joined Scratch, the signature was given after 50 posts.

All you have to do is write a certain BB code, you can probably find it on Google or some other search engine.

This is a great guide! You should be a moderator.

Here's an update, apparently now the sig is tied to being a Scratcher: http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=58647.

Yes, you should probably change this in your post. The new rule states that signatures can only be created by being a Scratcher. For more information, look at the announcements section of the forums, and here's a clickable link for your convenience. http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=58647
