these are the basics...
Go to the Character's script sheet...
<when green flag clicked><forever if><key[ left arrow ]pressed?><point in direction( left<move( 4 )steps>
<when green flag clicked><forever if><key[ right arrow ]pressed?><point in direction( right<move( 4 )steps>
-this should give you a good left/right movement speed
then... for the common gravity and platform movement
<when green flag clicked><forever><repeat until><color[your character's foot color ]is over[ ground color<change y by( -4
if you wat to use Tanner FBI's jump climb template do this...
<when[ up arrow ]key pressed><if><color[ foot color ]is over[ ground color<repeat( 10<change y by( 9
now, there are different ways to jump and move using variables, but this way is a good start

If you are new to scratch and wonder why people have quotes or pictures under their post, it is not because they typed it all in evey time (for example my quote below). if you want to have one too, make sure you are logged in (log in by going to Home page then sign up and you can log in and out as you please) go to forums, click on -Profile- then click on -Personality- and type any quote, picture, or site you please

This is a great idea for a forum topic - we see many users who are seeking advice from more experienced Scratch-ers...this is a great way to mentor new users and share ideas and information...I hope to see more!

here is a good way to to shoot using 3 sprites(pictures or drawings) man with gun, bullet, and aiming cursor-
man with gun...
<when green flag clicked><forever if><key[space ]pressed?><broadcast[ shoot
cursor...
<when green flag clicked><forever><go to x
<mouse x> )y
<mouse y> ,
and if you want it to turn...
<when green flag clicked><forever><turn cw( any speed )degrees>or<turn cw( any speed )degrees>
bullet...
<when green flag clicked><hide>
<when I receive[ shoot<forever><go to[ man with gun<point towards( cursor<show><glide( any speed )secs to x
<mouse x> )y
<mouse y><hide>
if that doesnt work there are other ways to shoot, i might have done it wrong because it has been awhile since i made a shooting game
