Make it so your projects can be un-downloadable

i was thinking of a new idea for scratch --- un-downloadable projects ---
This would be a good idea because some people hate it when someone else remixes their projects... there should be an option which lets you make it downloadable, un-downloadable or make it so only your friends can download
Hope you like my idea =p

Re: Make it so your projects can be un-downloadable

This has already been said no to, namely due to Scratches Motto "imagine . Program. Share"  By sharing your project on the scratch site, you automatically agree for Anyone to remix it  wink   If you do not want this, simply upload the project to your own site following the instructions given Here!

Yes, it's me...

What do you want to make?  I am up for anything... Some-one complained that the Offline/Online/Experimental viewer detector i made wasn't working - that was because they were using Flash Beta

there is a topic in Collabs http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic … 28#p684128

The whole point of Scratch is to remix, and share your creations.
So this has already been dismissed by the ST.

Re: Make it so your projects can be un-downloadable

This is a no-go. The whole point of Scratch is sharing. If someone is blatantly ripping-off your projects, you can always ask them to stop. (And if that doesn't work, flag the project and state that it is a copy.) Otherwise, be happy that people like your project enough to play around and change it!

Re: Make it so your projects can be un-downloadable

This has been suggested many a time, and the general consensus is that disabling downloads would go against the principle of Scratch that anyone should be able to open up an interesting project and see how it works. The remix system is in place to be sure that everyone automatically gets credit for their work. Ripping off projects is an unfortunate side effect of this but it often helps to ask the user to stop!

Incidentally, this is on the list of commonly resolved (read: not happening) suggestions here. It's often helpful to check this list to see if your suggestion has been made already!

Ending on a geeky note, I personally don't see what the fuss is about when it comes to making projects "un-downloadable". Projects are downloaded by the player every time you open them online, and anyone who looks at the source code for the page can find the download URL for the project right there in the HTML -- it's there so the player knows which project to open and run.

Also, someone else said that on Flipnote, people do "give me a million stars and i'll unlock downloading". This would create many wars and fights between users.

Flippynote Hatena (Flipnote Hatena)  is a MESS because of this.  Everyone locks their Flipnotes, and say, "give 50000 stars and ill unlock this." (sic).  This should NOT happen.  Besides, "imagine . Program . Share" .

no way. If it is a secret password that you don't want anyone to find out, use a hidden sprite.
