Re: Beta Flash player

I'm a newbie with Scratch and had my first project uploaded.
Java player was really a disappointment as it was very slow (I'm using Firefox).
But Flash Player was really fast (I dare say faster than scratch itself).

I think it should be done default, asap.

Re: Beta Flash player

I don't if it's the Flash version that does this, but my games don't work the same on the website as they do in my Scratch application. When it works in the app perfectly, there's some bugs in my games on the website. To see what I mean, try playing NINJAcademy or Astro-Isola.

You won't be able to export projects because the flash player is just a player -- it reads and plays the .sb files.

You can embed the Flash player, but it needs a server. Here is the HTML code:

Code:

<object width="483" height="387" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://scratch.mit.edu/static/misc/PlayerOnly.swf">
   <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always">
   <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true">
   <param name="flashvars" value="project={project_directory}">
</object>

Re: Beta Flash player

I like the Flash Player, but I hope that the GM instruments are filled in soon. My projects use the sounds from General Midi, and some of the sounds just play as the piano or the bass drum

Re: Beta Flash player

I like the new flash based player. It loads a lot quicker than the java one and the quality on resized sprites is high like it should be. There was nothing wrong with the java based player, but the flash based one is a lot more advanced.  smile

Re: Beta Flash player

It's good, but sometimes when I scroll down to read the comments on the same page, and scroll back up again, the top of the flash player is missing, so I can't click on the green flag or anything. (This is in firefox. will edit once I've tested it in IE and chrome.) Also just a suggestion: is it possible for the numbers of bytes in the loading bar screen to be rounded up into kilobytes or megabytes? I know it's a bit nitpicky, but it just looks like a long list of nunbers which is a bit confusing and doesn't look very nice.
One more thing: is there any particular reason why the projects run faster in flash than in java? Is it just because the java player was outdated and doesn't run as fast as it could on modern machines, or because flash utilises the hardware more efficientely or something? Just curious.
