EPICAL PLOT TWIST!

Wasnt expecting that ending. Nor did it really scare me, I've read/seen worse.

Reminds me of that Twilight Zone episode with the psychic camera.

Here's another one almost as (but almost not nearly) as shocking as the first one:

There was a hunter in the woods, who, after a long day hunting, was in the middle of an immense forest. It was getting dark, and having lost his bearings, he decided to head in one direction until he was clear of the increasingly oppressive foliage. After what seemed like hours, he came across a cabin in a small clearing. Realizing how dark it had grown, he decided to see if he could stay there for the night. He approached, and found the door ajar. Nobody was inside. The hunter flopped down on the single bed, deciding to explain himself to the owner in the morning.

As he looked around the inside of the cabin, he was surprised to see the walls adorned by several portraits, all painted in incredible detail. Without exception, they appeared to be staring down at him, their features twisted into looks of hatred and malice. Staring back, he grew increasingly uncomfortable. Making a concerted effort to ignore the many hateful faces, he turned to face the wall, and exhausted, he fell into a restless sleep.

The next morning, the hunter awoke - he turned, blinking in unexpected sunlight. Looking up, he discovered that the cabin had no portraits, only windows.

That's even scarier than the first.  I didn't know it was even possible to die twice from fright.

Prepare to die a third time. This one is EXTREMELY creepy. But I thought the first was still the scariest:

In Berlin, after World War II, money was short, supplies were tight, and it seemed like everyone was hungry. At that time, people were telling the tale of a young woman who saw a blind man picking his way through a crowd. The two started to talk. The man asked her for a favor: could she deliver the letter to the address on the envelope? Well, it was on her way home, so she agreed.

She started out to deliver the message, when she turned around to see if there was anything else the blind man needed. But she spotted him hurrying through the crowd without his smoked glasses or white cane. She was, naturally, suspicious, so she went to the police.

When the police paid a visit to the address on the envelope, they made a gruesome discovery, three butchers had been harvesting human flesh and selling it to the starving people.

And what was in the envelope the man gave to the woman? A note, saying simply "This is the last one I am sending you today."

There was once this Little boy who would always Disobey his parents by eating snacks and not doing his homework etc. So one night his parents went out to a special dinner with his brother and left the little boy home, thinking he wouldn't distroy the house since they were away. so then the little boy grabbed the Giant bag of Lollipops in the pantry, went in his room and sat on the edge of his bunk bed with the lollipops, and had a sweet feast, but then, in the corner where gis kitchen set is, the little toy pot flips really fast in into the air, staying in one spot in the air for 1 second, and then drops.

The little boy immediately stops all action and freezes, staring that the pot. then his bedroom door slowly closes and locks itself, and the bedroom light slowly turns from regular to blood red. Alsofollowed by the light flickering from time to time, The Giant T.V. in his room turns on, and to make matters odder, the screen was like a camera, you could see the entire bedroom in it, and the boy could see himself just sitting there on the top bunk part in the T.V., but, it was like a recorded video, and he noticed it was kind of like a stop motion, and the next part of the video came one second later each for each part of the video, and there was this form slowly coming from under the door and forming into a shadow in the shape of a weird creature with red eyes, pointy teeth (with its mouth always open), and an oval shaped head, then it disappeared for one part of the stop motiony video, and it reappeared right behind the boy with an eerie smile, then on one frame of the video, the creature opened its red glowing mouth and on the next frame, it ate the little boy's head whole, and blood shooting from different directiong was visible, then one second after that frame of the video, the lights flickers violently, making this loud electric noise, then the lights flicker out, the room goes pitch black, and the boy goes unconscious.

sometime later, he wakes up still errily siting up at the edge of his bunk bed, thinking he should have fallen over, but, that thought dosn't last long when he see's something that is life changing and unforgetable.

the entire bedroom was covered in faded green light, but, and even scarier sight lays right in front of the little boy. 
his family was scattered all over his bedroom floor, with their body parts torn apart, and an eerie writing right in front of the boy on the wall, reads: "if you wanted to stay alive, you shouldn't have read this." the boy was Terrified, but then he notices his door is open, and the green light fades out the closer it is to the door until it is just pitch black all around the door. then, the boy see red eyes slowly fade in at the entrance of the door, they stare at him for 7 seconds, then, the eerie oval head creature from the video comes so fast at him he dosn't have time to think, next thing you know, the boy is decapitated.

some people say the little boy was murdered by his parents for being so disobedient, then they kiled their other son, and themselves.

some people the little boy killed his parents and his brother, then commited suicide.

but nobody knows, and nobody wanted to check their house, terrified of the stories that have been told about them in that house.

Not very scary, just excessive violence and monsters.

A good scary story is believable and close to normal until the ending sequence, when everything is turned upside down, like the Portrait story above.

Wasn't expecting the ending at all, wow. Shocking. Reminds me of the movie 1408...

No-one wanted to check their house... I'm sure Chuck Norris gladly would.. 
Anyway, I read that on my second try, my first, I got distracted by all the capital letters that were'nt supposed to be capitalized...

And it wasn't really creepy at all, IMO.

They're pretty creepy... cool!

To find out that the ghost was staring at you... was creepiest i think...

Nope. I also don't find them that creepy. Especially that picture one- it was weird, but it's just pictures disappearing and being replaced with windows...

It's people staring through the windows.  He couldn't tell they were windows because it was dark.

Oh. Nevermind, that's sort of creepy. But why didn't he see them when he entered?

He was too tired and didn't bother to check the sides of the house.  It was only once he was inside that he decided to look around.

But with a cabin so small, while he was walking towards it he should have seen them.

xD just realized the reason I didn't get it- when the story said paintings, I imagined golden framed, single-backgrounded paintings.

It doesn't say the cabin was small, and maybe the people only showed up after he went inside.  It's a story, don't question it.  (Or the people will visit you)
