Here's an image of how the website will (possibly) look in Scratch 2.0:

Uh, no, that's not accurate - it's a rumor. That was an old design mockup / prototype that never really went live. 2.0 is likely to have more of a redesign than that.

Awesome! One small thing I want to mention.  Unfortunately, we can't really run a true full screen mode using the flash player. Flash has built in security that limits the keystrokes that a program can listen for when it's in full screen mode. So if we did make the player true fullscreen, Scratch projects running in it could only use the arrow keys, spacebar, and a few other keys. That means all projects that use the rest of the keys - like WASZ, for example - wouldn't work correctly, which we thought would really suck.  hmm

So our best compromise was to use full-window mode. This means the project will try to make the web browser window bigger, and then fill it up. Not quite fullscreen, but all the keys work - so it seems way better.

Just thought I'd clear that up.  smile

Hmm. I've developed a web browser with no boarders or bars at all including the form border (Can be turned on and off). Everything is done by the mouse and short cut keys. When 2.0 is released I shall test it out.

For now people who want a bigger java player can use my scratch viewer on my site.

Find someone post count. Click posts under username. Find number of pages. Times that by 40 for min and 60 for max and you have a rough estimate of post count.

As far as I know, most likely. It may also have features to connect with people around the world without third party software. Currently, mesh plays with local computers or global with third party software.

The development seems to be going good. I can't wait for its release (or a beta release).  wink
Is there any idea on how the interface will look?

So, now these games can actually connect to people through the internet, all around the world, easily?

Re: Scratch 2.0 Progress Report: Flash-Based Player, Custom User Pages

A question (or 2): Will the upload limit be raised when the flash player is released? And will there be a patch to allow it? Currently scratch will not let projects above 10MB because it is coded that way.

I know that Flash can support vector graphics so even if scratch 2.0 does not make vector graphics couldn't it support them?

Re: Scratch 2.0 Progress Report: Flash-Based Player, Custom User Pages

I have another question:
Ok, so Scratch 2.0 is going to be in the cloud (aka- make scratch projects online with out downloading it) right? that's cool, but will there also be a downloadable version? i don't always have internet access when i feel like making a project... maybe also have a way to sync what you have in the cloud with the downloaded scratch program? that might be a nice feature... but probably hard to program  neutral

According to the Scratch 2.0 FAQ, there will be a downloadable version that won't require internet access.  smile

I'm told we will consider adding support for vector graphics in Scratch 2.0, but the decision hasn't been made. Looks like there is a suggestion for it, but it only has 3 votes:

Re: Scratch 2.0 Progress Report: Flash-Based Player, Custom User Pages

I guess it is ok. I don't quite think that we need a new version, but if the scratch team thinks it is time, then i guess i really have no choice. i am sure that many people will leave after the update, but also many people will come on. Whatever happens, i will have to see. I hope it doesnt turn out to ruin the scratch in general, but i dont think it will. Lets just hope everybody will love it as much as the people that have posted on this forum.
