Re: The Vegetarian/Vegan FAQ (For Those Curious Or Critical Of The Diet)

Sanddude, would you like to be Interviewed for the Scratcher's Digest about your passion for Vegan rights and what you think about people hating?

It will be in the interview section. I will give you the questions if you agree.

Kind of like that music thing and changing Scratch form a while back.

So you stopped supporting a vegan diet just because of some vegans.

Well, for him, I don't blame him.... if almost all the Vegans he knew we're pressuring him, why should he support them? From what he saw, Vegans we're a 'clan' of people trying to stop the world from eating meat. It was either just a bad experience for him or he just didn't want to support them if they will do that to him.

And I do agree with his philosophy.... nobody should be forcing anybody into changing between Meat-Eater/Vegetarian/Vegan/Peskitarian

Well, he shouldn't stop supporting vegans based on a few vegans.

Not all vegans are like that.

Meh. Assumptions will be made.

What about not eating mammals, as in only eating fish and poultry? What's that called?

Re: The Vegetarian/Vegan FAQ (For Those Curious Or Critical Of The Diet)

I think that's the Jewish diet ordered by the Torah. Kosher, except they can eat some mammals. Just not if they have clove hoofs or something. Could be the other way around.

Um... peskinatarian? Can't remember.

@GirWaffles64-Let's hope that you don't have a 3 year old brother, or if you do, he's remarkably well behaved.

Okay:

Are you a Vegan or Vegetarian yourself?

Why are you so passionate about Vegan diets?

How about you give us a rarely-known fact about Vegan diets?

What do you have to say about the haters?

Anything else?

Re: The Vegetarian/Vegan FAQ (For Those Curious Or Critical Of The Diet)

wiimaster wrote:

Okay:

Are you a Vegan or Vegetarian yourself?

Well, here's my story. When I was born, my whole family was vegetarian. However, I got diagnosed with allergies, so I had to eat meat to get protein. And my mom starting eating it too. I lost the majority of those allergies, but I was so used to eating meat that I just kept doing it, even though I loved animals. But one morning in Summer 2009 (yes, I remember times for these things), I decided that it was time to take a stand for what I believe in my not eating meat. Around January 2010, my sister became a full vegan, which inspired to me to eat less eggs (I couldn't eat milk because of my allergy). Then in Fall 2010, I finally made the decision to become 100% vegan.
Why are you so passionate about Vegan diets?

Becoming vegetarian (and later a vegan) opened up my eyes to a whole new world. I realized that fruits, veggies, and soy weren't all vegans could eat. My favorite desserts can be made vegan. I also found out that a vegan diet is much more healthy, as long as you properly plan it. Vegans have a very low rate of heart disease, vegetarians have a little bit higher, and meat eaters have a surprisingly higher rate. If you poorly plan the diet you can lose valuable protein, iron, and Vitamin B12, but if you get those nutrients right a vegan diet is much more healthy.

How about you give us a rarely-known fact about Vegan diets?

A far too rarely known fact about vegan diets is that we can actually eat cake, muffins, donuts, etc. There are loads of substitutes for milk and eggs. For milk you can use Soy Milk or Rice Milk. It doesn't taste very different from cow's milk. For eggs you can use milled flax and water. They work great in cooking, and create good desserts. And also if you crave some ice cream try Rice Dream's Dairy Free Desserts.
What do you have to say about the haters?

I don't really come across a lot of people who truly HATE vegans/vegetarians, but I do come across loads and loads of criticism about it. People often try and claim that vegans are malnourished, and need meat to gain enough weight to survive. I've already covered health issues, so I won't go into another rant about that. Also people often claim it's just the cycle of life that animals eat other animals. That is true, but a lion can't wake up and decide to stop eating animals. He/she has to do it because he/she has no option. Humans, however, have control over what they eat. I also hear that vegetarians aren't actually saving animals because the animal is already dead. However we ARE actually helping in the long run. The less meat people buy, the less animals will be killed for it. It's a form of protest. I've also heard that vegans farts smell worst, which is the biggest load of crud I've ever heard.
Anything else?
No, I think I have it covered. All I have to say is I encourage you to go vegan. It's a change for the better. I don't want to force you, but I do want to encourage you. If you are considering doing it than good luck.  smile

There's my interview.
