Ayn Rand, one of the smartest people of all time, believed that the rich are the natural superiors and the poor are lazy and if you can't get by, you aren't working hard and well enough. I think she's right. What about you?

Poverty is often inherited and unfair. The rich can inherit their riches with little to no effort at all.
A man can be impoverished by uncontrollable means such as a robbery or a market crash. A man can be fired from work due to budget cuts, or not hired because of a lack of jobs or demand for his skills. Racial stereotype can come into play.
A man can be made rich without effort by winning the lottery or buying stock in a company that just happened to skyrocket. A man can rise by corrupt means, lying, stealing, unfair deals to unwitting people.
There's no dividing line. The rich and the poor are the same people.

The poor can work their way up. The rich deserve it because their ancestors worked hard. They are not the same people at all.
Look, just read Atlas Shrugged and see what I mean!

I generally agree with that, but you have to remember that some people did actually work hard for their riches. Most, in fact.
Also, this is an obvious troll thread.

I am not a troll. People were talking about this in the Piracy thread, so I made a new one.
JUST LOOK AT ATLAS SHRUGGED AND SEE WHAT I MEAN.

It's still not a universal rule. Not close to a universal rule. And there are many more causes than I listed.

Thank you for proving my point.

East or West? I think I already know which. East.

East. Why?
Because in New York, 'Merica's richest city, the poverty ratio is 1:5. And people say North Easterners are usually richer.

okay
well, you seem to enjoy discussing topics that'll probably end (or start) with an argument which is apparently frowned upon here
so yeah
you might want to find somewhere else to rant about social classes

I was asking because I wanted to know what made him think this way. You may be right. I'm gonna leave this conversation before I get into trouble.

So what? What do I care about the common man? Ayn Rand said that the greatest human emotion is self-interest.
Now that was definitely a troll remark.

Closing this . . .
This is a politically charged discussion outside the realm of the Scratch Forums.

I am not a troll. Search up Ayn Rand on wikipedia. I AM NOT A TROLL. I AM AN OBJECTIVIST.
Call yourself whatever you want, but you are purposefully starting topics designed to create controversy, which is by definition what a troll does. In light of your claiming to be an objectivist, your last argument about piracy seems a little strange -- what does someone whose primary focus is their own well-being care if musical artists or programmers make money?
EDIT: looks like Demosthenes closed this. Silly me.
