Ok. Don't get me wrong, scratch is amazing, but I've waited for quite a while now, and, the only comments on my projects that I have had are from one person, and I know them!:p
I got one loveit from someone in Brazil, but apart from that, that's all! I really don't want to sound grumpy, but, is there anything you can do to gain some popularity around here? Does anyone want to say how long they waited for thier first comment? I'd love to know.
Sorry if this message sounds at all grumpy. It really isn't supposed to!
Thankyou if you comment (or if you are about to!)

This is pretty much all there is to it.

The thread Sunrise-Moon posted is pretty good, but patience is key as well. Just wait a little longer and more views/love-its will come.

Remixing others projects and/or commenting on others projects really helps. I commented on a featured project and remixed it, and that allowed me to get on some other people's friends lists. After a year I got on the front page. If you add people to your friends list, and consistently give feedback, they will probably add you as a friend and then they will ALWAYS (or almost always) view your projects.
Time is key. When it comes to popularity, a few weeks isn't much time.

As others have said, make good projects, be active on the site and forums, and just be patient. Remember that you can also advertise your projects on the Show and Tell section of the forums. (Here's a good guide to making an ad for your project.)

The Forums work wonders. Try hard to get promoted, and then go to Misc. if ya want. That helped me after 5 months!

Just keep making projects; eventually people will come across them and they'll start showing up in their favorites, etc, and you'll generate more comments and views. Patience is key!

If you work hard on your projects and put in good quality, it should help. Also helping others in the forums is good.

Alas, I wish this was true
Its true that to get popular, you need to make good stuff, but its not true that making good stuff MAKES you popular.

Cheers guys! I don't feel at all unpopular now!

Another good incentive for views is a good project thumbnail.
Mind, don't cheat by putting some amazing graphics which you don't actually see in the game/animation, but a monochromatic screen is really boring to look at.

Here's a guide a created: http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=60131 Also, to add on, another good way is to comment back on the person who commented on your project. For instance, User Bob commented on your game. Then, go comment on his project or a few. This way, he'll notice and possibly add you to his friends list. With that, when you have a new project, he can see it faster on front page under Recent Friend Project when logged on.

Unfortanetly, by joining this late, you're lowering your chances. That of course is not your fault. I joined in mid 08 and back then the average number of views on a project was about 75, now I'd say it's about 7.
The best way to get famous nowadays is to get in good with somebody popular and get them to advertise for you. Then you advertise for them and the chain goes on and on. My friend and I did that and now we're both semi popular.

The method of effort, patience, determination, and advertising yourself to the point of no dignity is how I get a very reasonable amount of views per project (usually over 200, and I am very content with that).
