Hello, my name is 777w, and I would like to download Panther! The problem is, my mom is paranoid, and wants me to do some background research first. If you've downloaded and used Panther, please answer my questions below!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Have you experienced problems with your computer after downloading Panther?
2. Does Panther make your computer run slowly?
3. Does Panther run slowly?
4. Is it easy to install blocks from the block library?
5. Does installing the blocks from the block library ever give Panther problems?
6. Have you gotten much benefit from using Panther?
7. Do you suggest that it would be good to download Panther?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please answer my questions!

1. No.
2. No
3. Only when starting up (and even that is like 3 seconds
)
4. IF you make the special block library block which automatically downloads the block you tell it to. Otherwise you just have to copy and paste the codes. (so hard
)
5.No, unless you don't have internet connections, and it isn't really problems, it makes a white boolean
6. YES! Otherwise its MUCH better than Scratch.
7. Well... YES! Especially for The bbCode Generator!

Hi! I'm one of the Panther developers! I realise this gives me a very biased view of the Panther language so I will try to explain in a favourable yet honest light why there's no problem downloading and using it.
If you look at our website you can see a download counter that tells you that 866 people have downloaded Panther. Now this is technically a lie because the download counter is broken, the number of downloads is now almost certainly over 1000 and we have received no complaints from any of our customers stating that Panther was in any way affecting their system.
It's true that Panther 1.0 has some glitches in it, we're working on fixing those as I type in Panther 1.1, none of which are in any way repeatedly restrictive to your use of it.
Panther takes a while to start up as it loads a news box every time it is opened, but due to it's ability to store information in files as well as lists, I would say that during program execution Panther is at least equal, if not faster than Scratch.
Again, Panther won't slow down your computer any more than Scratch does (both are specifically coded to be able to use no more than (correct me if I'm wrong) 60% of your maximum CPU usage) so neither of them really slow your computer any more than, say, paint, Firefox, internet explorer or any other programs you have on your computer.
The block Library was made by me and I went to great lengths to ensure that it was easy to use and completely compatiable with Panther - there are tutorials on how to add Block Library blocks included in the Library and every single Panther block in the Library has been checked personally by me to make sure it works perfectly with Panther once downloaded.
Panther is a very popular version of Scratch with a good history and a host of features that allow you to take the next step in object orientated programming. For a full list of all Panther's features, you can look at our Wikipedia page.
You can contact all the Panther developers and ask us further questions about Panther here, on our Scratch forum thread or on the Panther forum!
I hope you found this information helpful
