Re: Question

Chat topics aren't allowed because this is a forum meant only to discuss the Scratch program. Misc is just there so that the important forums don't get clogged up by the inevitable unrelated topics

Re: Question

I think it's because mods want forums to be discussing one particular thing, instead of going all over the place.

It's mostly that.  Plus, the shear volume of posts that get generated while chatting would be really tough to monitor.  We're hoping to encourage well thought-out discussion.  By requiring that the posts be restricted to the topic (plus the 60 second rule), hopefully the poster will really put some effort into the post  smile

Re: Question

This doesn't quite belong in Miscellaneous, eh? What say we move it to All About Scratch, eh? Eh? Eh? Yeah, I live in Canada.  big_smile

Anyways, yes, Paddle2See got it right - it can be really difficult to monitor and often chat topics just end up in people posting random phrases, smileys, or strings of characters. We like to have things centered around a particular topic so that the community can have designated things to talk about.
