Especially when three projects could by themselves fill all nine slots under top loved, top downloaded, and top viewed. Absolute variety.

What? You can't have a project on multiple front page categories at the same time. Nor can you have multiple projects on the front page at the same time.

I don't even pay attention to the front page anymore to be honest. Sometimes I'll scroll down and see what's there but I rarely click on anything.

Me too. The stuff always stays the same, it seems.

In the "good" old days you could have multiple projects on the frontpage. I once had one of my projects in each of the 9 slots for the top lists. Things are not perfect but definetely better.

Wow. That would get you some views.

Yep
Things aren't what I'd hope they'd be on this site

I hope you do realize that one of Scratch's main target group is towards those of younger ages.

I do. What I'm saying is that we're older than most on this site, so we shouldn't have too high expectations.

For the people saying that the majority of Scratch users are about 8 to 10 - look here. I'd say that the average is more of 13.
...
While the front page is not how I like it - I don't bother to view it except for Featured, Curated and Design Studio - I do realize that the other projects that get front paged (ie. Top Viewed, Loved) get there because enough users want to view the project or put a love-it. Consider the fact that your opinion of a bad front page may not be the largest one.

One of the saddest things is when I say something about the quality of frontpage projects, people agree with me, and then nothing changes.

I'm fine with Swifty2, because he actually puts some effort into it. But everyone else is.....kinda of lacking.
My opinion was dumbed down for respectful purposes.

ARE YOU KIDDING
RHYS STUFF TOTALLY DOMINATES THE PAGE
JACKS GAMES ARE PRETTY AWESOME BUT RHYS GAMES ARE SO GOOD ITS NOT FAIR
Just kidding
I agree

very sick of it. it's been dominated by a very small window of people. it was good when Jack came along and started posting projects, but other than that there was RHY, who posts some of the best projects on scratch, but not enough to divert attention away from the other ones who dominated the front page with awful projects.
Glitchfinder had potential, but his games were extremely rushed and the amount of effort he put into them wasn't enough to deserve front page. and now he's quit.
I really don't think spritemaster should be there at all. There is no honestly animation in his projects, obviously rushed, and without effort. just a bunch of sprites with scratch speech bubbles really.
Unsure about the others, because i haven't even bothered with most of their projects. but they all seem to be pointless and terribly made in most cases. i was surprised that Astro947 had some skill compared to the others, and was quite funny.
I personally have no luck with the front page. I struggled to get HIVE there, and after 4 days or so i got the completed version on topviewed for about an hour. and, seriously, check out my game, HIVE, and then compare it to the average of the front page.

Something really should be done. I think that there are too many categories. Therefore it is not so special to be on the front page anymore.
